Proverbs 20 - YLT (Gujarati)

1 Wine `is' a scorner -- strong drink `is' noisy, And any going astray in it is not wise.દ્રાક્ષારસ હાંસી ઊડાવનાર છે, મધનું પીણું દંગો મચાવે છે; જે કોઇ સુરાપાનને લીધે ખોટેમાગેર્ જાય છે તો તે જ્ઞાની નથી.

2 The fear of a king `is' a growl as of a young lion, He who is causing him to be wroth is wronging his soul.રાજાની ધમકી સિંહની ગર્જના જેવી છે; તેનો રોષ વહોરી લેનાર પોતાના જ જીવને જોખમમાં મૂકે છે.

3 An honour to a man is cessation from strife, And every fool intermeddleth.ઝગડાથી દૂર રહેવું સન્માનીય છે, પણ મૂરખ ઝગડો કરવા માટે ઊતાવળો હોય છે.

4 Because of winter the slothful plougheth not, He asketh in harvest, and there is nothing.આળસુ વ્યકિત ઉચિત સમયે ખેડ કરતો નથી, અને કાપણી વખતે પાક લેવા જાય છે, ત્યારે તેને કશું મળતું નથી.

5 Counsel in the heart of a man `is' deep water, And a man of understanding draweth it up.અક્કલ વ્યકિતના મનમાં ઊંડા પાણી જેવી છે, પણ સમજણો માણસ તેને બહાર કાઢી લાવશે.

6 A multitude of men proclaim each his kindness, And a man of stedfastness who doth find?ઘણા લોકો દાવો કરે છે કે તેઓ વિશ્વાસુ મિત્રો છે; પણ જેના પર વિશ્વાસ રાખી શકાય એવો માણસ ક્યાં મળે?

7 The righteous is walking habitually in his integrity, O the happiness of his sons after him!નીતિમત્તાને માગેર્ ચાલનારી વ્યકિત સુંદર જીવન જીવે છે. અને તેની પછી તેના બાળકો આશીર્વાદિત છે.

8 A king sitting on a throne of judgment, Is scattering with his eyes all evil,ન્યાયાસન પર બેઠેલો રાજા પોતાની આંખથીજ દુષ્ટને ઓળખી કાઢે છે.

9 Who saith, `I have purified my heart, I have been cleansed from my sin?'કોણ કહી શકે કે, મેઁ મારું અંત:કરણ સાફ છે અને હું પાપથી ચોખ્ખો થયો હું?

10 A stone and a stone, an ephah and an ephah, Even both of them `are' an abomination to Jehovah.આપવા-લેવાનાં જુદાં કાટલાં અને જુદાં માપ એ બન્નેથી યહોવા કંટાળે છે.

11 Even by his actions a youth maketh himself known, Whether his work be pure or upright.બાળક પણ તેના આચરણથી પરખાય છે કે તેનાં કાર્યો શુદ્ધ અને સાચાં છે કે કેમ?

12 A hearing ear, and a seeing eye, Jehovah hath made even both of them.સાંભળતો કાન અને દેખતી આંખ બંને યહોવાએ બનાવ્યાં છે.

13 Love not sleep, lest thou become poor, Open thine eyes -- be satisfied `with' bread.ઊંઘ સાથે પ્રીત કરશો તો તમે બધું ખોઇ બેસશો, આંખ ઊઘાડી રાખશો તો ભરપેટ ખાવા પામશો.

14 `Bad, bad,' saith the buyer, And going his way then he boasteth himself.આ તો ખરાબ છે, ખરાબ છે, એવું ખરીદનાર કહે છે; પણ પછીથી પોતાની ખરીદી વિષે બડાશ મારે છે.

15 Substance, gold, and a multitude of rubies, Yea, a precious vessel, `are' lips of knowledge.ત્યાં સોનું છે અને ત્યાં માણેક છે, પણ જ્ઞાની વાણી તો કિંમતી રત્નો જેવી છે.

16 Take his garment when a stranger hath been surety, And for strangers pledge it.અજાણ્યાના જામીન થનારનાં કપડાં લઇ લેવાં અને તે અવેજમાં રાખવાં.

17 Sweet to a man `is' the bread of falsehood, And afterwards is his mouth filled `with' gravel.છેતરપિંડીથી મેળવેલો રોટલો મીઠો તો લાગે છે પણ પછી મોમાં રેતી ને કાંકરા રહી જાય છે.

18 Purposes by counsel thou dost establish, And with plans make thou war.દરેક યોજના સલાહથી પરિપૂર્ણ થયેલી છે માટે શાણી સલાહ પ્રમાણે તમારે યુદ્ધ કરવું.

19 A revealer of secret counsels is the busybody, And for a deceiver `with' his lips make not thyself surety.જે વ્યકિત ખાનગી વાતોને બહાર પાડે છે તે કૂથલી કરનારો છે. માટે વાતોડિયા સાથે સંબંધ ન રાખવો.

20 Whoso is vilifying his father and his mother, Extinguished is his lamp in blackness of darkness.માતાપિતાને શાપ આપનારનો દીવો ઘોર અંધકારમાં ઓલવાઇ જશે.

21 An inheritance gotten wrongly at first, Even its latter end is not blessed.વારસો જલદીથી મેળવવામાં આવે છે, પણ તેનું પરિણામ આખરે સુખદાઇ હોતું નથી.

22 Do not say, `I recompense evil,' Wait for Jehovah, and He delivereth thee.હું ભૂંડાઇનો બદલો લઇશ, એવું તારે ન કહેવું જોઇએ; યહોવાની રાહ જોજે, તે તને ઉગારી લેશે.

23 An abomination to Jehovah `are' a stone and a stone, And balances of deceit `are' not good.જુદાં જુદાં કાટલાંથી યહોવાને ગુસ્સો છે; ખોટો કાંટો સારો નથી.

24 From Jehovah `are' the steps of a man, And man -- how understandeth he his way?યહોવા વ્યકિતના પગલાંને દોરે છે, તો પછી વ્યકિત તેનો માર્ગ શી રીતે સમજી શકે?

25 A snare to a man `is' he hath swallowed a holy thing, And after vows to make inquiry.વગર વિચારે એમ કહી દેવું કે અમુક વસ્તુ અર્પણ કરેલી છે, અને માનતા માન્યા પછી તેના વિષે તપાસ કરવી એ માણસને ફાંદારૂપ છે.

26 A wise king is scattering the wicked, And turneth back on them the wheel.જ્ઞાની રાજા દુષ્ટોને વિખેરી કાઢે છે, અને તેમને સખત સજા કરે છે.

27 The breath of man `is' a lamp of Jehovah, Searching all the inner parts of the heart.વ્યકિતનો અંતરાત્મા યહોવાનો દીવો છે, તે તેના અંતરનો ખૂણે-ખૂણો તપાસે છે.

28 Kindness and truth keep a king, And he hath supported by kindness his throne.કૃપા અને સત્ય રાજાનું રક્ષણ કરે છે. તેનું રાજ્યાસન વફાદારી ઉપર ટકેલું છે.

29 The beauty of young men is their strength, And the honour of old men is grey hairs.યુવાનોનું ગર્વ તેઓનું બળ છે; અને સફેદવાળ વૃદ્ધોની શોભા છે.

30 The bandages of a wound thou removest with the evil, Also the plagues of the inner parts of the heart!ચાબખા અને ઘા દુષ્ટતાને ભૂંસી નાખે છે. ફટકા અંતરના ઊંડાણ સુધી પહોંચે છે.
