1 A roll of the birth of Jesus Christ, son of David, son of Abraham.આ ઈસુ ખ્રિસ્તનો કૌટુંબિક ઈતિહાસ છે. તે દાઉદના પરિવારમાંથી આવ્યો. અને દાઉદ ઈબ્રાહિમના પરિવારમાંથી આવ્યો.

2 Abraham begat Isaac, and Isaac begat Jacob, and Jacob begat Judah and his brethren,ઈબ્રાહિમ ઈસહાકનો પિતા હતો.ઈસહાક યાકૂબનો પિતા હતો.યાકૂબ યહૂદા અને તેના ભાઈઓનો પિતા હતો.

3 and Judah begat Pharez and Zarah of Tamar, and Pharez begat Hezron, and Hezron begat Ram,યહૂદા પેરેસ અને ઝેરાહનો પિતા હતો.(તેઓની મા તામાર હતી.)પેરેસ હેસ્રોનનો પિતા હતો.હેસ્રોન આરામનો પિતા હતો.

4 and Ram begat Amminadab, and Amminadab begat Nahshon, and Nahshon begat Salmon,આરામ અમિનાદાબનો પિતા હતો.અમિનાદાબ નાહશોનનો પિતા હતો.નાહશોન સલ્મોનનો પિતા હતો.

5 and Salmon begat Boaz of Rahab, and Boaz begat Obed of Ruth, and Obed begat Jesse,સલ્મોન બોઆઝનો પિતા હતો.(બોઆઝની માતા રાહાબ હતી.)બોઆઝ ઓબેદનો પિતા હતો.(ઓબેદની માતા રૂથ હતી.)ઓબેદ યશાઈનો પિતા હતો.

6 and Jesse begat David the king. And David the king begat Solomon, of her `who had been' Uriah's,યશાઈ દાઉદ રાજાનો પિતા હતો.દાઉદ સુલેમાનનો પિતા હતો.(સુલેમાનની મા પહેલા ઊરિયાની પત્ની હતી.)

7 and Solomon begat Rehoboam, and Rehoboam begat Abijah, and Abijah begat Asa,સુલેમાન રહાબામનો પિતા હતો.રહાબામ અબિયાનો પિતા હતો.અબિયા આસાનો પિતા હતો.

8 and Asa begat Jehoshaphat, and Jehoshaphat begat Joram, and Joram begat Uzziah,આસા યહોશાફાટનો પિતા હતો.યહોશાફાટ યોરામનો પિતા હતો.યોરામ ઉઝિયાનો પિતા હતો.

9 and Uzziah begat Jotham, and Jotham begat Ahaz, and Ahaz begat Hezekiah,ઉઝિયા યોથામનો પિતા હતો.યોથામ આહાઝનો પિતા હતો.આહાઝ હિઝકિયાનો પિતા હતો.

10 and Hezekiah begat Manasseh, and Manasseh begat Amon, and Amon begat Josiah,હિઝકિયા મનાશ્શાનો પિતા હતો.મનાશ્શા આમોનનો પિતા હતો.આમોન યોશિયાનો પિતા હતો.

11 and Josiah begat Jeconiah and his brethren, at the Babylonian removal.યખોન્યા અને તેના ભાઈઓના પિતા યોશિયા હતો.(યહૂદી લોકોને ગુલામ બનાવવા માટે બાબિલ મોકલવામાં આવ્યાં તે સમય દરમ્યાન તેનો જન્મ થયો.)

12 And after the Babylonian removal, Jeconiah begat Shealtiel, and Shealtiel begat Zerubbabel,બાબિલમાં તેઓને લઈ ગયા પછી:યખોન્યા શલથિયેલનો પિતા હતો.શલથિયેલ ઝરુંબ્બાબેલનો પિતા હતો.

13 and Zerubbabel begat Abiud, and Abiud begat Eliakim, and Eliakim begat Azor,ઝરુંબ્બાબેલ અબિહૂદનો પિતા હતો.અબિહૂદ એલ્યાકીમનો પિતા હતો.એલ્યાકીમ અઝોરનો પિતા હતો.

14 and Azor begat Sadok, and Sadok begat Achim, and Achim begat Eliud,અઝોર સાદોકનો પિતા હતો.સાદોક આખીમનો પિતા હતો.આખીમ અલિહૂદનો પિતા હતો.

15 and Eliud begat Eleazar, and Eleazar begat Matthan, and Matthan begat Jacob,અલિહૂદ એલ્યાઝરનો પિતા હતો.એલ્યાઝર મથ્થાનનો પિતા હતો.મથ્થાન યાકૂબનો પિતા હતો.

16 and Jacob begat Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was begotten Jesus, who is named Christ.યાકૂબ યૂસફનો પિતા હતો.યૂસફ મરિયમનો પતિ હતો.અને મરિયમ ઈસુની મા હતી.ઈસુ ખ્રિસ્તતરીકે ઓળખાવા લાગ્યો.

17 All the generations, therefore, from Abraham unto David `are' fourteen generations, and from David unto the Babylonian removal fourteen generations, and from the Babylonian removal unto the Christ, fourteen generations.આમ ઈબ્રાહિમથી દાઉદ સુધીની ચૌદ પેઢી થઈ દાઉદથી યહૂદી લોકોને બાબિલમાં લઈ ગયા ત્યાં સુધીની પણ યૌદ પેઢી થઈ અને એ લોકોને બાબિલમાં લઈ ગયા તે સમયથી ખ્રિસ્તના જન્મ સુધીની યૌદ પેઢી થઈ.

18 And of Jesus Christ, the birth was thus: For his mother Mary having been betrothed to Joseph, before their coming together she was found to have conceived from the Holy Spirit,ઈસુ ખ્રિસ્તની મા મરિયમ હતી. ઈસુના જન્મ વિષેની હકીકત આ પ્રમાણે છે. તેની મા મરિયમની સગાઈ યૂસફ સાથે થઈ હતી. લગ્ન પહેલા મરિયમને ખબર પડી કે તે પવિત્ર આત્માથી ગર્ભવતી થઈ છે.

19 and Joseph her husband being righteous, and not willing to make her an example, did wish privately to send her away.મરિયમનો પતિ યૂસફ, ખૂબજ ભલો માણસ હતો, તે જાહેરમાં મરિયમને લજ્જિત કરવા ઈચ્છતો ન હતો તેથી તેણે છૂટાછેડા આપવાનું ગુપ્ત રીતે નક્કી કર્યુ.

20 And on his thinking of these things, lo, a messenger of the Lord in a dream appeared to him, saying, `Joseph, son of David, thou mayest not fear to receive Mary thy wife, for that which in her was begotten `is' of the Holy Spirit,જયારે તે આ બાબતનો વિચાર કરતો હતો ત્યારે તેને પ્રભુનો દૂત દેખાયો. દૂતે કહયું કે, “યૂસફ દાઉદના દીકરાતું મરિયમને તારી પત્ની તરીકે સ્વીકીરવામાં જરા પણ અચકાઈશ નહિ કારણ કે તેને જે ગર્ભ રહેલો છે તે પવિત્ર આત્માથીછે.

21 and she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus, for he shall save his people from their sins.'તે દીકરાને જન્મ આપશે અને તું તેનું નામ ઈસુપાડશે. તેને એવું નામ આપજે કારણ કે તે પોતાના લોકોને તેમના પાપોમાંથી મુક્ત કરશે.”

22 And all this hath come to pass, that it may be fulfilled that was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying,આ બધુ તેને થશે કારણ કે પ્રબોધકો દ્વારા પ્રભુએ કહેલું ભવિષ્ય કથન પરિપૂર્ણ થાય.

23 `Lo, the virgin shall conceive, and she shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel,' which is, being interpreted `With us `he is' God.'જુઓ, કુંવારી ગર્ભવતી થશે, તેને એક દીકરો જન્મશે અને તેનું નામ ઈમ્માનુએલ પાડવામાં આવશે.”(ઈમ્માનુએલ એટલે “દેવ આપણી સાથે છે.”)

24 And Joseph, having risen from the sleep, did as the messenger of the Lord directed him, and received his wife,જયારે યૂસફ જાગ્યો, ત્યારે પ્રભુના દૂતના આદેશને અનુસર્યો અને મરિયમને તેની પત્ની તરીકે સ્વીકારી ઘરે તેડી લાવ્યો.

25 and did not know her till she brought forth her son -- the first-born, and he called his name Jesus.પરંતુ મરિયમે દીકરાને જન્મ આપ્યો ત્યાં સુધી યૂસફે તેને જાણી નહિ. તેણે તેનું નામ ઈસુ પાડ્યું.
