Job 21
1 પછી અયૂબે જવાબ આપ્યો અને કહ્યું:
2 “હું જે કહું તે ધ્યાનથી સાંભળો અને મને એટલો તો દિલાસો આપો.
3 મારા બોલી રહ્યા પછી ભલે તમે મારી હાંસી કરજો. પણ હું બોલું છું ત્યાં સુધી ધીરજ રાખો.
4 શું મારી ફરિયાદ માણસ સામે છે? હું શા માટે અધીરો ના થાઉં?
5 મારી દશા તો જુઓ! અને આઘાત પામજો મહેરબાની કરીને તમારા મોઢા પર તમારો હાથ મૂકી અને ઢાંકી દેશો.
6 હું યાદ કરું છું ત્યારે ગભરાઇ જાઉં છું. હું ભયથી જી ઊઠું છું.
7 શા માટે દુષ્ટ માણસો લાંબુ જીવે છે? શા માટે તેઓ વૃદ્ધ થાય છે અને સફળ રહે છે?
8 દુષ્ટ લોકો તેમના સંતાનોને મોટાં થતા જુએ છે. દુષ્ટ લોકો પોતાના પૌત્ર-પૌત્રીઓને જોવા માટે જીવે છે.
9 એમનાં ઘર સુરક્ષિત હોય છે, તેઓ ડરતા નથી તેઓને સજા આપવા માટે દેવ લાકડીનો ઊપયોગ કરતા નથી.
10 તેઓના બળદો જાતીય સંબધ બાંધવામાં કદી નિષ્ફળ જતા નથી. તેઓની ગાયો વાછરડાંઓને જન્મ આપે છે અને વાછરડાંઓ મરેલા જન્મતા નથી.
11 દુષ્ટ લોકો તેઓના સંતાનોને ઘેટાંના બચ્ચાંઓની જેમ બહાર રમવા મોકલે છે. તેઓના સંતાનો આસપાસ નાચે છે.
12 તેઓ નાચગાનમાં પોતાનો સમય પસાર કરે છે, તેઓ વાંસળી, સારંગી અને ખંજરીના તાલે ગાય છે અને ઝૂમે છે.
13 દુષ્ટ લોકો તેઓના જીવન દરમ્યાન સફળ થવાનો આનંદ માણે છે. ત્યાર પછી તેઓ મૃત્યુ પામે છે અને પીડા વગર તેઓની કબરમાં જાય છે.
14 તો પણ દુષ્ટ લોકો દેવને કહે છે, ‘અમને એકલા મૂકી દો’ તમે અમારી પાસે શું કરાવવા માગો છો તેની અમને ચિંતા નથી.
15 તેઓ કહે છે, ‘સર્વસમર્થ દેવ કોણ છે? અમારે તેમની સેવા શા માટે કરવી જોઇએ? શું એમને પ્રાર્થના કરીને કાઇ નહિ વળે?’
16 એ સાચું છે કે દુષ્ટ લોકો પોતાની જાતે સફળ થયા નથી. હું તેઓની સલાહ પ્રમાણે અનુસરી શકતો નથી.
17 પણ કેટલીવાર દેવ અવારનવાર દુષ્ટ લોકોનો દીવો ફૂંક મારીને ઓલવે છે? કેટલીવાર દુષ્ટ લોકોને સમસ્યાઓ હોય છે?
18 આપણે એને કેટલીવાર હવામાં ખરસલાંની જેમ ઊડી જતો જોયો છે? વંટોળિયામાં ફોતરાઁની જેમ ફૂકાંઇ જતો જોયો છે?
19 તમે કહેશો, ‘દેવ તેઓના પાપની સજા તેઓના સંતાનોને કરે છે.’ પણ દેવ જો તેઓને સજા કરે, તોજ તેઓને જાણ થશે કે તેઓ તેઓના પોતાના પાપોને લીધેજ સજા ભોગવી રહ્યાં છે!
20 પાપીને પોતાની સજા જોવા દો. તેને સર્વસમર્થ દેવનો ક્રોધ અનુભવવા દો.
21 જ્યારે દુષ્ટ માણસના જીવનનો અંત આવે છે, અને તે મરી જાય છે, તે તેની પાછળ રહેલા કુટુંબની ચિંતા કરતો નથી.
22 માણસ શું દેવને પાઠ ભણાવી શકશે? દેવ ઉચ્ચ સ્થાનના લોકોનો પણ અભિપ્રાય બાંધે છે.
23 કોઇ માણસ મરી જાય છે ત્યાં સુધી તંદુરસ્ત રહે છે તથા સુખચેનમાં રહે છે.
24 તેના શરીરને સારું પોષણ મળ્યું હતું અને તેના હાડકાં હજીપણ મજબૂત હતા.
25 પરંતુ બીજો તો પોતાના જીવનમાં કષ્ટ ભોગવતો મૃત્યુ પામે છે, અને કદી સુખનો અનુભવ કરતો નથી.
26 પણ માટીમાં તો એ બંને એક સાથે મળી જાય છે અને જીવડાં તેઓ બંને ઉપર પથરાઇ જાય છે અને તેમને ઢાંકી દે છે.
27 જુઓ, તમારા વિચારો હું જાણું છું અને હું જાણું છું તમે મને દુ:ખ પહોચાડવા માગો છો.
28 તમે કહો છો, ‘એ મહાશયનું ઘર ક્યાં છે? એ દુષ્ટ માણસ વસતો હતો તે જગા ક્યાં છે?’
29 શું તમે રસ્તે જનારાઓને પૂછયું? તમે ખાત્રીપૂર્વક તેઓની વાતો માનશો?
30 ભૂંડો માણસ સંકટના સમયે બચી જાય છે. દેવના કોપમાંથી દુષ્ટ ઊગરી જાય છે.
31 તેણે જે દુષ્કમોર્ કર્યા તે માટે તેને કોઇ જાહેરમાં ઠપકો આપી શકતું નથી. તેણે જે કર્યુ છે તે માટે તેને સજા આપનાર કોઇ નથી.
32 ઊલટું તેની કબરનુ રક્ષણ કરવાની વ્યવસ્થા કરવામાં આવી છે. તેને માન અપાય છે.
33 એની કબરમાં માટી પણ એની આસપાસ નરમાશથી પથરાઇ જાય છે. એની આગળ અને પાછળ મોટી મેદની હોય છે.
1 But Job answered and said,
2 Hear diligently my speech, and let this be your consolations.
3 Suffer me that I may speak; and after that I have spoken, mock on.
4 As for me, is my complaint to man? and if it were so, why should not my spirit be troubled?
5 Mark me, and be astonished, and lay your hand upon your mouth.
6 Even when I remember I am afraid, and trembling taketh hold on my flesh.
7 Wherefore do the wicked live, become old, yea, are mighty in power?
8 Their seed is established in their sight with them, and their offspring before their eyes.
9 Their houses are safe from fear, neither is the rod of God upon them.
10 Their bull gendereth, and faileth not; their cow calveth, and casteth not her calf.
11 They send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children dance.
12 They take the timbrel and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the organ.
13 They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave.
14 Therefore they say unto God, Depart from us; for we desire not the knowledge of thy ways.
15 What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we pray unto him?
16 Lo, their good is not in their hand: the counsel of the wicked is far from me.
17 How oft is the candle of the wicked put out! and how oft cometh their destruction upon them! God distributeth sorrows in his anger.
18 They are as stubble before the wind, and as chaff that the storm carrieth away.
19 God layeth up his iniquity for his children: he rewardeth him, and he shall know it.
20 His eyes shall see his destruction, and he shall drink of the wrath of the Almighty.
21 For what pleasure hath he in his house after him, when the number of his months is cut off in the midst?
22 Shall any teach God knowledge? seeing he judgeth those that are high.
23 One dieth in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet.
24 His breasts are full of milk, and his bones are moistened with marrow.
25 And another dieth in the bitterness of his soul, and never eateth with pleasure.
26 They shall lie down alike in the dust, and the worms shall cover them.
27 Behold, I know your thoughts, and the devices which ye wrongfully imagine against me.
28 For ye say, Where is the house of the prince? and where are the dwelling places of the wicked?
29 Have ye not asked them that go by the way? and do ye not know their tokens,
30 That the wicked is reserved to the day of destruction? they shall be brought forth to the day of wrath.
31 Who shall declare his way to his face? and who shall repay him what he hath done?
32 Yet shall he be brought to the grave, and shall remain in the tomb.
33 The clods of the valley shall be sweet unto him, and every man shall draw after him, as there are innumerable before him.

1 પછી અયૂબે જવાબ આપ્યો અને કહ્યું:
But Job answered and said,
2 “હું જે કહું તે ધ્યાનથી સાંભળો અને મને એટલો તો દિલાસો આપો.
Hear diligently my speech, and let this be your consolations.
3 મારા બોલી રહ્યા પછી ભલે તમે મારી હાંસી કરજો. પણ હું બોલું છું ત્યાં સુધી ધીરજ રાખો.
Suffer me that I may speak; and after that I have spoken, mock on.
4 શું મારી ફરિયાદ માણસ સામે છે? હું શા માટે અધીરો ના થાઉં?
As for me, is my complaint to man? and if it were so, why should not my spirit be troubled?
5 મારી દશા તો જુઓ! અને આઘાત પામજો મહેરબાની કરીને તમારા મોઢા પર તમારો હાથ મૂકી અને ઢાંકી દેશો.
Mark me, and be astonished, and lay your hand upon your mouth.
6 હું યાદ કરું છું ત્યારે ગભરાઇ જાઉં છું. હું ભયથી જી ઊઠું છું.
Even when I remember I am afraid, and trembling taketh hold on my flesh.
7 શા માટે દુષ્ટ માણસો લાંબુ જીવે છે? શા માટે તેઓ વૃદ્ધ થાય છે અને સફળ રહે છે?
Wherefore do the wicked live, become old, yea, are mighty in power?
8 દુષ્ટ લોકો તેમના સંતાનોને મોટાં થતા જુએ છે. દુષ્ટ લોકો પોતાના પૌત્ર-પૌત્રીઓને જોવા માટે જીવે છે.
Their seed is established in their sight with them, and their offspring before their eyes.
9 એમનાં ઘર સુરક્ષિત હોય છે, તેઓ ડરતા નથી તેઓને સજા આપવા માટે દેવ લાકડીનો ઊપયોગ કરતા નથી.
Their houses are safe from fear, neither is the rod of God upon them.
10 તેઓના બળદો જાતીય સંબધ બાંધવામાં કદી નિષ્ફળ જતા નથી. તેઓની ગાયો વાછરડાંઓને જન્મ આપે છે અને વાછરડાંઓ મરેલા જન્મતા નથી.
Their bull gendereth, and faileth not; their cow calveth, and casteth not her calf.
11 દુષ્ટ લોકો તેઓના સંતાનોને ઘેટાંના બચ્ચાંઓની જેમ બહાર રમવા મોકલે છે. તેઓના સંતાનો આસપાસ નાચે છે.
They send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children dance.
12 તેઓ નાચગાનમાં પોતાનો સમય પસાર કરે છે, તેઓ વાંસળી, સારંગી અને ખંજરીના તાલે ગાય છે અને ઝૂમે છે.
They take the timbrel and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the organ.
13 દુષ્ટ લોકો તેઓના જીવન દરમ્યાન સફળ થવાનો આનંદ માણે છે. ત્યાર પછી તેઓ મૃત્યુ પામે છે અને પીડા વગર તેઓની કબરમાં જાય છે.
They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down to the grave.
14 તો પણ દુષ્ટ લોકો દેવને કહે છે, ‘અમને એકલા મૂકી દો’ તમે અમારી પાસે શું કરાવવા માગો છો તેની અમને ચિંતા નથી.
Therefore they say unto God, Depart from us; for we desire not the knowledge of thy ways.
15 તેઓ કહે છે, ‘સર્વસમર્થ દેવ કોણ છે? અમારે તેમની સેવા શા માટે કરવી જોઇએ? શું એમને પ્રાર્થના કરીને કાઇ નહિ વળે?’
What is the Almighty, that we should serve him? and what profit should we have, if we pray unto him?
16 એ સાચું છે કે દુષ્ટ લોકો પોતાની જાતે સફળ થયા નથી. હું તેઓની સલાહ પ્રમાણે અનુસરી શકતો નથી.
Lo, their good is not in their hand: the counsel of the wicked is far from me.
17 પણ કેટલીવાર દેવ અવારનવાર દુષ્ટ લોકોનો દીવો ફૂંક મારીને ઓલવે છે? કેટલીવાર દુષ્ટ લોકોને સમસ્યાઓ હોય છે?

18 આપણે એને કેટલીવાર હવામાં ખરસલાંની જેમ ઊડી જતો જોયો છે? વંટોળિયામાં ફોતરાઁની જેમ ફૂકાંઇ જતો જોયો છે?
They are as stubble before the wind, and as chaff that the storm carrieth away.
19 તમે કહેશો, ‘દેવ તેઓના પાપની સજા તેઓના સંતાનોને કરે છે.’ પણ દેવ જો તેઓને સજા કરે, તોજ તેઓને જાણ થશે કે તેઓ તેઓના પોતાના પાપોને લીધેજ સજા ભોગવી રહ્યાં છે!
God layeth up his iniquity for his children: he rewardeth him, and he shall know it.
20 પાપીને પોતાની સજા જોવા દો. તેને સર્વસમર્થ દેવનો ક્રોધ અનુભવવા દો.
His eyes shall see his destruction, and he shall drink of the wrath of the Almighty.
21 જ્યારે દુષ્ટ માણસના જીવનનો અંત આવે છે, અને તે મરી જાય છે, તે તેની પાછળ રહેલા કુટુંબની ચિંતા કરતો નથી.
For what pleasure hath he in his house after him, when the number of his months is cut off in the midst?
22 માણસ શું દેવને પાઠ ભણાવી શકશે? દેવ ઉચ્ચ સ્થાનના લોકોનો પણ અભિપ્રાય બાંધે છે.
Shall any teach God knowledge? seeing he judgeth those that are high.
23 કોઇ માણસ મરી જાય છે ત્યાં સુધી તંદુરસ્ત રહે છે તથા સુખચેનમાં રહે છે.
One dieth in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet.
24 તેના શરીરને સારું પોષણ મળ્યું હતું અને તેના હાડકાં હજીપણ મજબૂત હતા.
His breasts are full of milk, and his bones are moistened with marrow.
25 પરંતુ બીજો તો પોતાના જીવનમાં કષ્ટ ભોગવતો મૃત્યુ પામે છે, અને કદી સુખનો અનુભવ કરતો નથી.
And another dieth in the bitterness of his soul, and never eateth with pleasure.
26 પણ માટીમાં તો એ બંને એક સાથે મળી જાય છે અને જીવડાં તેઓ બંને ઉપર પથરાઇ જાય છે અને તેમને ઢાંકી દે છે.
They shall lie down alike in the dust, and the worms shall cover them.
27 જુઓ, તમારા વિચારો હું જાણું છું અને હું જાણું છું તમે મને દુ:ખ પહોચાડવા માગો છો.
Behold, I know your thoughts, and the devices which ye wrongfully imagine against me.
28 તમે કહો છો, ‘એ મહાશયનું ઘર ક્યાં છે? એ દુષ્ટ માણસ વસતો હતો તે જગા ક્યાં છે?’

31 તેણે જે દુષ્કમોર્ કર્યા તે માટે તેને કોઇ જાહેરમાં ઠપકો આપી શકતું નથી. તેણે જે કર્યુ છે તે માટે તેને સજા આપનાર કોઇ નથી.
Who shall declare his way to his face? and who shall repay him what he hath done?
32 ઊલટું તેની કબરનુ રક્ષણ કરવાની વ્યવસ્થા કરવામાં આવી છે. તેને માન અપાય છે.
Yet shall he be brought to the grave, and shall remain in the tomb.
33 એની કબરમાં માટી પણ એની આસપાસ નરમાશથી પથરાઇ જાય છે. એની આગળ અને પાછળ મોટી મેદની હોય છે.
The clods of the valley shall be sweet unto him, and every man shall draw after him, as there are innumerable before him.
