1 The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem, in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.આમોસના પુત્ર યશાયાએ યહૂદામાં ઉઝિઝયા, યોથામ, આહાઝ અને હિઝિક્યા રાજાઓના અમલ દરમ્યાન સંદર્શનો જોયાં. તે સંદર્શનોમાંથી તેને સંદેશા મળ્યા. આ સંદેશાઓમાં યહોવાએ યરૂશાલેમ અને યહૂદામાં આવનાર દિવસોમાં શું બનવાનું હતું તે તેને બતાવ્યું.

2 Hear, heavens, And listen, earth; for Yahweh has spoken: I have nourished and brought up children, And they have rebelled against me.હે આકાશ અને પૃથ્વી! સાંભળો, કારણ, યહોવા બોલે છે:“જે બાળકોને મેં ઉછેરીને મોટાં કર્યા છે, તેઓએ મારી વિરુદ્ધ બંડ કર્યંુ છે.

3 The ox knows his owner, And the donkey his master's crib; But Israel doesn't know, My people don't consider.બળદ જેમ પોતાના ધણીને ઓળખે છે અને ગધેડો પોતાના ધણીની ગભાણને ઓળખે છે; પણ ઇસ્રાએલને ડહાપણ અને સમજણ નથી.”

4 Ah sinful nation, A people loaded with iniquity, A seed of evil-doers, Children who deal corruptly! They have forsaken Yahweh. They have despised the Holy One of Israel. They are estranged and backward.ઓહ! પાપી પ્રજા, હે અપરાધોથી લદાયેલા લોકો, હે કુકમીર્ઓ, હે વંંઠી ગયેલઁા છોકરાં! તમે યહોવાનો ત્યાગ કર્યો છે. તમે ઇસ્રાએલના પવિત્ર દેવને તિરસ્કાર્યા છે. અને તેમનાથી તમે અજાણ્યાની જેમ વિમુખ થઇ ગયા છો.

5 Why should you be beaten more, That you revolt more and more? The whole head is sick, And the whole heart faint.દેવ કહે છે, “હે મારા લોકો, શું હજુ તમારે વધારે માર ખાવો છે? તે આમ બળવા ઉપર બળવો કર્યા કરો છો? તમારું માથું રોગિષ્ઠ છે અને તમારાં હૃદય અને મન અશુદ્ધ છે.

6 From the sole of the foot even to the head there is no soundness in it: Wounds, welts, and open sores. They haven't been closed, neither bandaged, neither soothed with oil.પગના તળિયાથી માંડીને તે માથા સુધી કોઇ અંગ સાજુ નથી; ફકત ઘા, ઉઝરડા અને દૂઝતા ઘા છે; નથી તમે તમારા ઘા સાફ કર્યા કે નથી પાટા બાંધ્યા, નથી તેના પર તેલ ચોપડવામાં આવ્યું.

7 Your country is desolate. Your cities are burned with fire. Strangers devour your land in your presence, And it is desolate, As overthrown by strangers.“તમારો દેશ ઉજ્જડ થઇ ગયો છે, તમારાં નગરો આગમાં ભસ્મ થઇ ગયાં છે; તમારી નજર આગળ પરદેશીઓ તમને લૂંટે છે, અને તેઓની નજરે જે પડે છે તેનો નાશ કરે છે.

8 The daughter of Zion is left like a shelter in a vineyard, Like a hut in a field of melons, Like a besieged city.સિયોન નગર બધી વસ્તુઓથી વંચિત થઇ ગયું છે જેમકે દ્રાક્ષની વાડીઓમાં આશ્રય અથવા કાકડીના ખેતર તે ઘેરાબંધ શહેર જેવું છે.

9 Unless Yahweh of hosts had left to us a very small remnant, We would have been as Sodom; We would have been like Gomorrah.જો સૈન્યોના દેવ યહોવાએ આપણામાંના થોડાકને બાકી રહેવા ન દીધા હોત, તો આપણે સદોમ અને ગમોરાના જેવા નામશેષ થઇ ગયા હોત.” છ ગેલન દ્રાક્ષરસ એક બાથ,એક બાથ એટલે લગભગ છ ગેલન.એક ઓમેર એટલે લગભગ 65 ગેલન બી વાવ્યા પછી એક એફાહ- એટલે કે લગભગ 6 ગેલન અનાજ ઉપજશે.માહેર-શાલાલ-હાશ-બાઝ ઇસાઇઆહનાં પુત્રોમાંના એકનું નામ છે જેનો અર્થ થાય છે, “લૂંટારો પોતાનો લૂંટનો માલ લેવા ઝડપથી આવે છે.”શેઓલ શેઓલ એ જગ્યા છે જ્યાં હિબ્રુ માન્યતા પ્રમાણે બધા મૃતલોકો ત્યાં જાય છે. સામાન્ય રીતે તે સજાની જગા હોય છે એવું મનાતું નથી.ત્સવ, લે ... ઝર શામ! શાબ્દિક રીતે “નિયમ પછી નિયમ, આજ્ઞા પછી રેખા, થોડું અહીં, થોડું ત્યાં” આ મૂળાક્ષર શીખવા માટે થઇને બાળકો માટેના ગીતના શબ્દો છે. તેનો અર્થ એ છે કે લોકોએ તેમના વિજેતાઓ સાથે બોલવા માટે નવી ભાષા શીખવી પડશે અથવા તો તેમના વિજેતા બોલશે તે વાણી તેમના માટે અર્થહીન જેવી હશે કારણ કે તેઓ તેને સમજતા નથી.

10 Hear the word of Yahweh, you rulers of Sodom! Listen to the law of our God, you people of Gomorrah!હે યરૂશાલેમના રાજકર્તાઓ અને પ્રજાજનો, તમે સદોમના અને ગમોરાના રાજકર્તાઓ અને પ્રજાજનો જેવા થઇ ગયા છો. તમે યહોવાની વાણી સાંભળો, આપણા દેવના નિયમશાસ્ત્ર પ્રત્યે કાને ધરો.

11 "What are the multitude of your sacrifices to me?," says Yahweh. "I have had enough of the burnt offerings of rams, And the fat of fed animals. I don't delight in the blood of bulls, Or of lambs, Or of male goats.યહોવા કહે છે, તમારા અસંખ્ય યજ્ઞો મારી આગળ તમે કર્યા છે છતાં તે મારે કોઇ કામના નથી. તમારા પુષ્ટ ઘેટાંની મારે જરૂર નથી. તમારાં અર્પણો, ગોધા, હલવાન તથા બકરાનું લોહી મને ભાવતું નથી.

12 When you come to appear before me, Who has required this at your hand, to trample my courts?“તમને મારા માટે અર્પણો લાવવા કોણે કહ્યું હતું? મારા મંદિરના આંગણાને હવે જરાપણ કચડો નહિ.

13 Bring no more vain offerings. Incense is an abomination to me; New moons, Sabbaths, and convocations: I can't bear with evil assemblies.“તમારા નકામા ખાદ્યાર્પણો લાવશો નહિ, ધૂપ તો મને તિરસ્કારરૂપ લાગે છે; ચંદ્રદર્શન, સાબ્બાથ દિવસો અને ધર્મમેળો એમાં કેવળ પાપીઓ જ ભેગા થાય છે.

14 My soul hates your New Moons and your appointed feasts; They are a burden to me. I am weary of bearing them.તમારાઁ ચદ્રદર્શનને અને તમારા પવોર્ને હું ધિક્કારું છું. હું તે સહન કરી શકતો નથી.

15 When you spread forth your hands, I will hide my eyes from you; Yes, when you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood.“પણ જો તમે મારી સામે તમારો હાથ ઉગામશો, ત્યારે હું મારી આંખો ફેરવી લઇશ. હવે વધારે હું તમારી પ્રાર્થનાઓને નહિ સાંભળું, કેમકે તમારો હાથ લોહીથી ખરડાયેલો છે.

16 Wash yourselves, make yourself clean. Put away the evil of your doings from before my eyes; Cease to do evil.“સ્નાન કરીને શુદ્ધ થાઓ. મારી આંખ આગળ દુષ્કૃત્યો કરવાનું બંધ કરો, ભૂંડા કામ કરવાના છોડી દો. અને ભલું કરતાં શીખો.

17 Learn to do well. Seek justice, Relieve the oppressed, Judge the fatherless, Plead for the widow."ન્યાયને માગેર્ ચાલો, જેમના પર ત્રાસ થાય છે તેમને બચાવો, અનાથનું રક્ષણ કરો, વિધવાઓ અને ગરીબોને મદદ કરો, તેમના પ્રત્યે માયાળુ બનો.”

18 "Come now, and let us reason together," says Yahweh: "Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow. Though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.યહોવા કહે છે, “આવો, આપણે એક સમજૂતી પર આવીએ. તમારાં પાપના ડાઘ ગમે તેટલા ઘેરા હશે, તો પણ હું તેને દૂર કરીશ. અને તમને તાજાં વરસેલાં હિમ જેવા; ને ઊન જેવા શ્વેત બનાવીશ.

19 If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the land;“જો તમે રાજીખુશીથી આજ્ઞા પ્રમાણે વર્તશો, ને કામ કરશો તો તમે ધરતીનો મબલખ પાક ભોગવવા પામશો.

20 But if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured with the sword; For the mouth of Yahweh has spoken it."પણ જો તમે મારી આજ્ઞાઓનું ઉલ્લંઘન કરશો તો તમે તરવારના ભોગ થઇ પડશો.” આ યહોવાના મુખનાં વચનો છે.

21 How the faithful city has become a prostitute! She was full of justice; righteousness lodged in her, But now murderers.“જે નગર દેવને વફાદાર હતું અને સંપૂર્ણ ન્યાયથી વર્તતુ હતું. તે આજે કેવું ષ્ટ બની ગયું છે! ત્યાં ધર્મનિષ્ઠાનો વાસ હતો, પણ આજે તો ત્યાં ખૂનીઓ વસે છે.

22 Your silver has become dross, Your wine mixed with water.“હે યરૂશાલેમ, તું ચાંદીની હતી તે કલાઇની થઇ ગઇ છે; તું શુદ્ધ રહી નથી, તમારા દ્રાક્ષારસમાં પાણી મિશ્રિત કરવામાં આવ્યું છે, અગાઉ તમે શુદ્ધ ચાંદી અને શુદ્ધ દ્રાક્ષારસ જેવા હતા.

23 Your princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves. Everyone loves bribes, and follows after rewards. They don't judge the fatherless, Neither does the cause of the widow come to them.તારા રાજકર્તાઓ જ બળવાખોર અને ચોરોના સાથીઓ થઇ ગયા છે. તેઓ લાંચના લાલચુ છે, ને નજરાણાં માટે વલખાઁ મારે છે. તેઓ અનાથનું રક્ષણ કરતાં નથી, અને વિધવાઓની દાદ તેઓ સાંભળતા નથી.

24 Therefore the Lord, Yahweh of Hosts, The Mighty One of Israel, says: "Ah, I will get relief from my adversaries, And avenge myself of my enemies;તેથી, સૈન્યોના દેવ યહોવા, ઇસ્રાએલના સૈન્યોનો દેવ, કહે છે! “તમે મારા શત્રુ બન્યા છો. તમારા ઉપર વૈર વાળીને હું સંતોષ પામીશ.

25 And I will turn my hand on you, Thoroughly purge away your dross, And will take away all your tin.હું પોતે તમારા પર હાથ ઉગામીશ, તમને અગ્નિની ભઠ્ઠીમાં ગાળીશ અને શુદ્ધ કરીશ.

26 I will restore your judges as at the first, And your counselors as at the beginning. Afterward you shall be called 'The city of righteousness, A faithful town.'આદિકાળની જેમ હું તારા ન્યાયાધીશોને, અને પૂર્વકાળની જેમ તારા મંત્રીઓને પાછા લાવીશ; ત્યાર પછી તારું નામ ‘ન્યાયનગર, ધર્મપુરી કહેવાશે.”‘

27 Zion shall be redeemed with justice, And her converts with righteousness.જેઓ ન્યાયી અને ભલા છે તેઓ યહોવા તરફ પાછા ફરશે, સિયોનને અને તેના પશ્ચાતાપ કરનારા વતનીઓનો ઉદ્ધાર થશે.

28 But the destruction of transgressors and sinners shall be together, And those who forsake Yahweh shall be consumed.પણ ગુનેગારો અને પાપીઓનો એક સાથે નાશ કરવામાં આવશે. અને જેઓ યહોવાનો ત્યાગ કરશે તેઓ હતા ન હતા થઇ જશે.

29 For they shall be ashamed of the oaks which you have desired, And you shall be confounded for the gardens that you have chosen.તમે એલોન વૃક્ષોની પૂજા કરતા હતા; ને ઉપવનોને ઉપાસના સ્થાન માની બેઠા હતા તેથી તમારે શરમાવું પડશે,

30 For you shall be as an oak whose leaf fades, And as a garden that has no water.તમારી દશા પાણી વગરના બગીચા જેવી અને કરમાએલાં પાંદડાવાળાં વૃક્ષો જેવી થશે.

31 The strong will be like tinder, And his work like a spark. They will both burn together, And no one will quench them."તૃણ જેમ તણખાથી બળી જાય તેમ બળવાન માણસો પણ પોતાના દુષ્કૃત્યોથી બળી જશે. અને કોઇ હોલાવવા નહિ આવે.
