મારોથના લોકો કંઇ સારાની રાહ જોવામાં નબળા બની ગયા, કારણકે, યહોવા તરફથી આફત યરૂશાલેમના દરવાજા સુધી આવી પહોંચી છે.

For	כִּֽי	kî	kee
the inhabitant	חָ֥לָֽה	ḥālâ	HA-la
of Maroth	לְט֖וֹב	lĕṭôb	leh-TOVE
carefully waited	יוֹשֶׁ֣בֶת	yôšebet	yoh-SHEH-vet
for good:	מָר֑וֹת	mārôt	ma-ROTE
but	כִּֽי	kî	kee
evil	יָ֤רַד	yārad	YA-rahd
came down	רָע֙	rāʿ	ra
from	מֵאֵ֣ת	mēʾēt	may-ATE
the Lord	יְהוָ֔ה	yĕhwâ	yeh-VA
gate the unto	לְשַׁ֖עַר	lĕšaʿar	leh-SHA-ar
of Jerusalem.	יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃	yĕrûšāloim	yeh-roo-sha-loh-EEM
