ત્યારે દાનિયલે રાજાને જવાબ આપ્યો, “આપનું ઇનામ ભલે આપની પાસે જ રહેતું અને આપનાં ઇનામો આપ ભલે બીજા કોઇને આપો. તેમ છતાં હું આપને આ લખાણ વાંચી સંભળાવીશ અને એનો અર્થ આપને કહી બતાવીશ.
