આશ્શૂરના રાજાએ બાબિલ, કૂથાહ,આવ્વા, હમાથ અને સફાર્વાઈમના લોકોને લાવીને ઇસ્રાએલીઓને બદલે સમરૂનનાં શહેરોમાં વસાવ્યા. આથી તેઓએ સમરૂનનો કબજો લઈ તેનાં નગરોમાં વસવાટ કર્યો.
