அது என் எஜமான் பானம்பண்ணுகிற பாத்திரம் அல்லவா? அது போனவகை ஞானதிருஷ்டியால் அவருக்குத் தெரியாதா? நீங்கள் செய்தது தகாதகாரியம் என்று அவர்களோடே சொல் என்றான்.

அப்பொழுது ராஜா: கிபியோனியர்களை அழைத்தான்; கிபியோனியர்களோ, இஸ்ரவேல் மக்களாக இல்லாமல் எமோரியர்களில் மீதியாக இருந்தவர்கள்; அவர்களுக்கு இஸ்ரவேல் மக்கள் ஆணையிட்டிருந்தும், சவுல் இஸ்ரவேல் மக்களுக்காகவும், யூதாவுக்காகவும் காண்பித்த வைராக்கியத்தினால் அவர்களை வெட்ட வகைதேடினான்.

(கிபியோனியர் இஸ்ரவேலர் அல்ல. அவர்கள் எமோரியர் குழுவினராகும். இஸ்ரவேலர் கிபியோனியரைத் துன்புறுத்துவதில்லை என்று வாக்களித்திருந்தனர். ஆனால் சவுல் கிபியோனியரைக் கொல்ல முயன்றான். அவன் இஸ்ரவேலர் மீதும் யூதா ஜனங்கள் மீதும் அளவு கடந்த பாசம் வைத்திருந்ததால் இப்படிச் செய்தான்.) அரசனாகிய தாவீது கிபியோனியரை அழைத்து அவர்கள் எல்லோரிடமும் பேசினான்.
