1 இவைகளுக்குப்பின்பு, ராஜாவாகிய அகாஸ்வேருவின் உக்கிரம் தணிந்தபோது, அவன் வஸ்தியையும் அவள் செய்ததையும் அவளைக்குறித்துத் தீர்மானிக்கப்பட்டதையும் நினைத்தான். After these things, when the wrath of king Ahasuerus was appeased, he remembered Vashti, and what she had done, and what was decreed against her.

2 அப்பொழுது ராஜாவைச் சேவிக்கிறவனுடைய ஊழியக்காரர் அவனை நோக்கி: ரூபவதிகளாயிருக்கிற கன்னிப்பெண்களை ராஜாவுக்காகத் தேடவேண்டும். Then said the king's servants that ministered unto him, Let there be fair young virgins sought for the king:

3 அதற்காக ராஜா தம்முடைய ராஜ்யத்தின் நாடுகளிலெல்லாம் விசாரிப்புக்காரரை வைக்கவேண்டும்; இவர்கள் ரூபவதிகளாயிருக்கிற சகல கன்னிப்பெண்களையும் கூட்டி, சூசான் அரமனையிலிருக்கிற கன்னிமாடத்துக்கு அழைத்துவந்து, ஸ்திரீகளைக் காவல்பண்ணுகிற ராஜாவின் பிரதானியாகிய யேகாயின் வசத்திலே ஒப்புவிக்கவேண்டும்; அவர்களுடைய சுத்திகரிப்புக்கு வேண்டியவைகள் அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கப்படவேண்டும். And let the king appoint officers in all the provinces of his kingdom, that they may gather together all the fair young virgins unto Shushan the palace, to the house of the women, unto the custody of Hege the king's chamberlain, keeper of the women; and let their things for purification be given them:

4 அப்பொழுது ராஜாவின் கண்களுக்குப் பிரியமான கன்னி வஸ்திக்குப் பதிலாகப் பட்டத்து ஸ்திரீயாக வேண்டுமென்றார்கள்; இந்த வார்த்தை ராஜாவுக்கு நலமாய்த் தோன்றினபடியால் அப்படியே செய்தான். And let the maiden which pleaseth the king be queen instead of Vashti. And the thing pleased the king; and he did so.

5 அப்பொழுது சூசான் அரமனையிலே பென்யமீனியனாகிய கீசின் குமாரன் சீமேயினுடைய மகனாகிய யாவீரின் குமாரன் மொர்தெகாய் என்னும் பேருள்ள ஒரு யூதன் இருந்தான். Now in Shushan the palace there was a certain Jew, whose name was Mordecai, the son of Jair, the son of Shimei, the son of Kish, a Benjamite;

6 அவன் பாபிலோன் ராஜாவாகிய நேபுகாத்நேச்சார் யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய எகொனியாவைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டு போகிறபோது, அவனோடேகூட எருசலேமிலிருந்து பிடித்துக்கொண்டு போகப்பட்டவர்களில் ஒருவனாயிருந்தான். Who had been carried away from Jerusalem with the captivity which had been carried away with Jeconiah king of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away.

7 அவன் தன் சிறிய தகப்பன் குமாரத்தியாகிய எஸ்தர் என்னும் அத்சாளை வளர்த்தான்; அவளுக்குத் தாய்தகப்பனில்லை; அந்தப் பெண் ரூபவதியும் சௌந்தரியமுடையவளுமாயிருந்தாள்; அவள் தகப்பனும் அவள் தாயும் மரணமடைந்தபோது, மொர்தெகாய் அவளைத் தன் குமாரத்தியாக எடுத்துக்கொண்டான். And he brought up Hadassah, that is, Esther, his uncle's daughter: for she had neither father nor mother, and the maid was fair and beautiful; whom Mordecai, when her father and mother were dead, took for his own daughter.

8 ராஜாவின் கட்டளையும் தீர்மானமும் பிரசித்தமாகி, அநேகம் பெண்கள் கூட்டப்பட்டு, சூசான் அரமனையிலுள்ள யேகாயின் வசத்தில் ஒப்புவிக்கப்படுகிறபோது, எஸ்தரும் ராஜாவின் அரமனைக்கு அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோகப்பட்டு, ஸ்திரீகளைக் காவல்பண்ணுகிற யேகாயின் வசத்தில் ஒப்புவிக்கப்பட்டாள். So it came to pass, when the king's commandment and his decree was heard, and when many maidens were gathered together unto Shushan the palace, to the custody of Hegai, that Esther was brought also unto the king's house, to the custody of Hegai, keeper of the women.

9 அந்தப் பெண் அவன் பார்வைக்கு நன்றாயிருந்ததினால், அவளுக்கு அவன் கண்களிலே தயைகிடைத்தது; ஆகையால் அவளுடைய சுத்திகரிப்புக்கு வேண்டியவைகளையும், அவளுக்குத் தேவையான மற்றவைகளையும் அவளுக்குக் கொடுக்கவும், ராஜ அரமனையிலிருக்கிற ஏழு தாதிமார்களை அவளுக்கு நியமிக்கவும் ஜாக்கிரதைப்பட்டு கன்னிமாடத்தில் சிறந்த ஒரு இடத்திலே அவளையும் அவள் தாதிமார்களையும் வைத்தான். And the maiden pleased him, and she obtained kindness of him; and he speedily gave her her things for purification, with such things as belonged to her, and seven maidens, which were meet to be given her, out of the king's house: and he preferred her and her maids unto the best place of the house of the women.

10 எஸ்தரோவென்றால் தன் குலத்தையும், தன் பூர்வோத்தரத்தையும் அறிவிக்காதிருந்தாள்; மொர்தெகாய் அதைத் தெரிவிக்கவேண்டாமென்று கற்பித்திருந்தான். Esther had not shewed her people nor her kindred: for Mordecai had charged her that she should not shew it.

11 எஸ்தருடைய சுகசெய்தியையும் அவளுக்கு நடக்குங்காரியத்தையும் அறிய மொர்தெகாய் நாடோறும் கன்னிமாடத்து முற்றத்துக்கு முன்பாக உலாவுவான். And Mordecai walked every day before the court of the women's house, to know how Esther did, and what should become of her.

12 ஒவ்வொரு பெண்ணும் ஆறுமாதம் வெள்ளைப்போளத் தைலத்தினாலும், ஆறுமாதம் சுகந்தவர்க்கங்களினாலும் தங்களுக்குரிய மற்றச் சுத்திகரிப்புகளினாலும் ஜோடிக்கப்படுகிற நாட்கள் நிறைவேறி, இவ்விதமாய் ஸ்திரீகளின் முறைமைப்படி பன்னிரண்டு மாதமாகச் செய்யப்பட்டுத் தீர்ந்தபின்பு, ராஜாவாகிய அகாஸ்வேருவினிடத்தில் பிரவேசிக்க, அவளவளுடைய முறை வருகிறபோது, Now when every maid's turn was come to go in to king Ahasuerus, after that she had been twelve months, according to the manner of the women, (for so were the days of their purifications accomplished, to wit, six months with oil of myrrh, and six months with sweet odours, and with other things for the purifying of the women;)

13 இப்படி ஜோடிக்கப்பட்ட பெண் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் பிரவேசிப்பாள்; கன்னிமாடத்திலிருந்து தன்னோடேகூட ராஜ அரமனைக்குப்போக, அவள் தனக்கு வேண்டுமென்று கேட்பவையெல்லாம் அவளுக்குக் கொடுக்கப்படும். Then thus came every maiden unto the king; whatsoever she desired was given her to go with her out of the house of the women unto the king's house.

14 சாயங்காலத்திலே அவள் உள்ளே பிரவேசித்து, காலமே, அபிமான ஸ்திரீகளைக் காவல்பண்ணுகிற ராஜாவின் பிரதானியாகிய சாஸ்காசுடைய விசாரிப்புக்குள்ளிருக்கிற ஸ்திரீகளின் இரண்டாம், மாடத்துக்குத் திரும்பிவருவாள்; ராஜா தன்னை விரும்பிப் பேர்சொல்லி அழைத்தாலொழிய அவள் ஒருபோதும் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் பிரவேசிக்கக் கூடாது. In the evening she went, and on the morrow she returned into the second house of the women, to the custody of Shaashgaz, the king's chamberlain, which kept the concubines: she came in unto the king no more, except the king delighted in her, and that she were called by name.

15 மொர்தெகாய் தனக்குக் குமாரத்தியாய் ஏற்றுக்கொண்டவளும், அவன் சிறிய தகப்பனாகிய அபியாயேலின் குமாரத்தியுமாகிய எஸ்தர் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் பிரவேசிக்கிறதற்கு முறைவந்தபோது, அவள் ஸ்திரீகளைக் காவல்பண்ணுகிற ராஜாவின் பிரதானியாகிய யேகாய் நியமித்த காரியமேயல்லாமல் வேறொன்றும் கேட்கவில்லை; எஸ்தருக்குத் தன்னைக் காண்கிற எல்லார் கண்களிலும் தயை கிடைத்தது. Now when the turn of Esther, the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her for his daughter, was come to go in unto the king, she required nothing but what Hegai the king's chamberlain, the keeper of the women, appointed. And Esther obtained favour in the sight of all them that looked upon her.

16 அப்படியே எஸ்தர் ராஜாவாகிய அகாஸ்வேரு அரசாளுகிற ஏழாம் வருஷம் தேபேத் மாதமாகிய பத்தாம் மாதத்திலே ராஜாவினிடத்தில் அரமனைக்கு அழைத்துக்கொண்டு போகப்பட்டாள். So Esther was taken unto king Ahasuerus into his house royal in the tenth month, which is the month Tebeth, in the seventh year of his reign.

17 ராஜா சகல ஸ்திரீகளைப்பார்க்கிலும் எஸ்தர்மேல் அன்புவைத்தான்; சகல கன்னிகைகளைப்பார்க்கிலும் அவளுக்கு அவன் சமுகத்தில் அதிக தயையும் பட்சமும் கிடைத்தது; ஆகையால் அவன் ராஜகிரீடத்தை அவள் சிரசின்மேல் வைத்து, அவளை வஸ்தியின் ஸ்தானத்திலே பட்டத்து ஸ்திரீயாக்கினான். And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her queen instead of Vashti.

18 அப்பொழுது ராஜா தன்னுடைய எல்லாப் பிரபுக்களுக்கும் ஊழியக்காரருக்கும், எஸ்தரினிமித்தம் ஒரு பெரியவிருந்துசெய்து, நாடுகளுக்குச் சலக்கரணை உண்டாக்கி, ராஜஸ்திதிக்குத்தக்க வெகுமானங்களைக் கொடுத்தான். Then the king made a great feast unto all his princes and his servants, even Esther's feast; and he made a release to the provinces, and gave gifts, according to the state of the king.

19 இரண்டாந்தரம் கன்னிகைகள் சேர்க்கப்படும்போது, மொர்தெகாய் தன் அரமனை வாசலில் உட்கார்ந்தான். And when the virgins were gathered together the second time, then Mordecai sat in the king's gate.

20 எஸ்தர் மொர்தெகாய் தனக்குக் கற்பித்திருந்தபடி, தன் பூர்வோத்தரத்தையும் தன் குலத்தையும் தெரிவிக்காதிருந்தாள்; எஸ்தர் மொர்தெகாய் இடத்திலே வளரும்போது அவன் சொற்கேட்டு நடந்ததுபோல, இப்பொழுதும் அவன் சொற்கேட்டு நடந்துவந்தாள். Esther had not yet shewed her kindred nor her people; as Mordecai had charged her: for Esther did the commandment of Mordecai, like as when she was brought up with him.

21 அந்நாட்களில் மொர்தெகாய் ராஜா அரமனை வாசலில் உட்கார்ந்திருக்கிறபோது, வாசல்காக்கிற ராஜாவின் இரண்டு பிரதானிகளாகிய பிக்தானும் தேரேசும் வர்மம் வைத்து, ராஜாவாகிய அகாஸ்வேருவின்மேல் கைபோட வகைதேடினார்கள். In those days, while Mordecai sat in the king's gate, two of the king's chamberlains, Bigthan and Teresh, of those which kept the door, were wroth, and sought to lay hands on the king Ahasuerus.

22 இந்தக் காரியம் மொர்தெகாய்க்குத் தெரியவந்ததினால், அவன் அதை ராஜாத்தியாகிய எஸ்தருக்கு அறிவித்தான்; எஸ்தர் மொர்தெகாயின் பேரால் அதை ராஜாவுக்குச் சொன்னாள். And the thing was known to Mordecai, who told it unto Esther the queen; and Esther certified the king thereof in Mordecai's name.

23 அந்தக் காரியம் விசாரிக்கப்படுகிறபோது, அது மெய்யென்று காணப்பட்டது; ஆகையால் அவர்கள் இருவரும் மரத்திலே தூக்கிப்போடப்பட்டார்கள்; இது ராஜ சமுகத்திலே நாளாகமப்புஸ்தகத்திலே எழுதப்பட்டிருக்கிறது. And when inquisition was made of the matter, it was found out; therefore they were both hanged on a tree: and it was written in the book of the chronicles before the king.

1 Ivaikalukkuppinpu, raajaavaakiya akaasvaeruvin ukkiram thanninthapothu, avan vasthiyaiyum aval seythathaiyum avalaikkuriththuth theermaanikkappattathaiyum ninaiththaan. 2 Appoluthu raajaavaich sevikkiravanutaiya ooliyakkaarar avanai Nnokki: roopavathikalaayirukkira kannippennkalai raajaavukkaakath thaedavaenndum. Then said the king's servants that ministered unto him, Let there be fair young virgins sought for the king:

3 Atharkaaka raajaa thammutaiya raajyaththin naadukalilellaam visaarippukkaararai vaikkavaenndum; ivarkal roopavathikalaayirukkira sakala kannippennkalaiyum kootti, soosaan aramanaiyilirukkira kannimaadaththukku alaiththuvanthu, sthireekalaik kaavalpannnukira raajaavin pirathaaniyaakiya yaekaayin vasaththilae oppuvikkavaenndum; avarkalutaiya suththikarippukku vaenntiyavaikal avarkalukkuk kodukkappadavaenndum. 5 Appoluthu soosaan aramanaiyilae penyameeniyanaakiya geesin kumaaran seemaeyinutaiya makanaakiya yaaveerin kumaaran morthekaay ennum paerulla oru yoothan irunthaan. Now in Shushan the palace there was a certain Jew, whose name was Mordecai, the son of Jair, the son of Shimei, the son of Kish, a Benjamite;

6 Avan paapilon raajaavaakiya naepukaathnaechchaாr yoothaavin raajaavaakiya ekoniyaavaip pitiththukkonndu pokirapothu, avanotaekooda erusalaemilirunthu pitiththukkonndu pokappattavarkalil oruvanaayirunthaan. Who had been carried away from Jerusalem with the captivity which had been carried away with Jeconiah king of Judah, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away.

7 Avan than siriya thakappan kumaaraththiyaakiya esthar ennum athsaalai valarththaan; avalukkuth thaaythakappanillai; anthap penn roopavathiyum saunthariyamutaiyavalumaayirunthaal; aval thakappanum aval thaayum maranamatainthapothu, morthekaay avalaith than kumaaraththiyaaka eduththukkonndaan. 8 Raajaavin kattalaiyum theermaanamum pirasiththamaaki, anaekam pennkal koottappattu, soosaan aramanaiyilulla yaekaayin vasaththil oppuvikkappadukirapothu, estharum raajaavin aramanaikku alaiththukkonndupokappattu, sthireekalaik kaavalpannnukira yaekaayin vasaththil oppuvikkappattal. So it came to pass, when the king's commandment and his decree was heard, and when many maidens were gathered together unto Shushan the palace, to the custody of Hegai, that Esther was brought also unto the king's house, to the custody of Hegai, keeper of the women.

9 Anthap penn avan paarvaikku nantayirunthathinaal, avalukku avan kannkalilae thayaikitaiththathu; aakaiyaal avalutaiya suththikarippukku vaenntiyavaikalaiyum, avalukkuth thaevaiyaana mattavaikalaiyum avalukkuk kodukkavum, raaja aramanaiyilirukkira aelu thaathimaarkalai avalukku niyamikkavum jaakkirathaippattu kannimaadaththil sirantha oru idaththilae avalaiyum aval thaathimaarkalaiyum vaiththaan. And the maiden pleased him, and she obtained kindness of him; and he speedily gave her her things for purification, with such things as belonged to her, and seven maidens, which were meet to be given her, out of the king's house: and he preferred her and her maids unto the best place of the house of the women.

10 Estharovental than kulaththaiyum, than poorvoththaraththaiyum arivikkaathirunthaal; morthekaay athaith therivikkavaenndaamentu karpiththirunthaan. Esther had not shewed her people nor her kindred: for Mordecai had charged her that she should not shew it.

11 Estharutaiya sukaseythiyaiyum avalukku nadakkungaariyaththaiyum ariya morthekaay naatooraுm kannimaadaththu muttaththukku munpaaka ulaavuvaan. And Mordecai walked every day before the court of the women's house, to know how Esther did, and what should become of her.

12 Ovvoru pennnum aaraுmaatham vellaippolath thailaththinaalum, aaraுmaatham sukanthavarkkangalinaalum thangalukkuriya mattach suththikarippukalinaalum jotikkappadukira naatkal niraivaeri, ivvithamaay sthireekalin muraimaippati panniranndu maathamaakach seyyappattuth theernthapinpu, raajaavaakiya akaasvaeruvinidaththil piravaesikka, avalavalutaiya murai varukirapothu, Now when every maid's turn was come to go in to king Ahasuerus, after that she had been twelve months, according to the manner of the women, (for so were the days of their purifications accomplished, to wit, six months with oil of myrrh, and six months with sweet odours, and with other things for the purifying of the women;)

13 Ippati jotikkappatta penn raajaavinidaththil piravaesippaal; kannimaadaththilirunthu thannotaekooda raaja aramanaikkuppoka, aval thanakku vaenndumentu kaetpavaiyellaam avalukkuk kodukkappadum. Then thus came every maiden unto the king; whatsoever she desired was given her to go with her out of the house of the women unto the king's house.

14 Saayangaalaththilae aval ullae piravaesiththu, kaalamae, apimaana sthireekalaik kaavalpannnukira raajaavin pirathaaniyaakiya saaskaasutaiya visaarippukkullirukkira sthireekalin iranndaam, maadaththukkuth thirumpivaruvaal; raajaa thannai virumpip paersolli alaiththaaloliya aval orupothum raajaavinidaththil piravaesikkak koodaathu. And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her queen instead of Vashti.

18 Appoluthu raajaa thannutaiya ellaap pirapukkalukkum ooliyakkaararukkum, estharinimiththam oru periyavirunthuseythu, naadukalukkuch salakkarannai unndaakki, raajasthithikkuththakka vekumaanangalaik koduththaan. Then the king made a great feast unto all his princes and his servants, even Esther's feast; and he made a release to the provinces, and gave gifts, according to the state of the king.

19 Iranndaantharam kannikaikal serkkappadumpothu, morthekaay than aramanai vaasalil utkaarnthaan. And when the virgins were gathered together the second time, then Mordecai sat in the king's gate.

20 Esthar morthekaay thanakkuk karpiththirunthapati, than poorvoththaraththaiyum than kulaththaiyum therivikkaathirunthaal; esthar morthekaay idaththilae valarumpothu avan sorkaettu nadanthathupola, ippoluthum avan sorkaettu nadanthuvanthaal. Esther had not yet shewed her kindred nor her people; as Mordecai had charged her: for Esther did the commandment of Mordecai, like as when she was brought up with him.

21 Annaatkalil morthekaay raajaa aramanai vaasalil utkaarnthirukkirapothu, vaasalkaakkira raajaavin iranndu pirathaanikalaakiya pikthaanum thaeraesum varmam vaiththu, raajaavaakiya akaasvaeruvinmael kaipoda vakaithaetinaarkal. 23 Anthak kaariyam visaarikkappadukirapothu, athu meyyentu kaanappattathu; aakaiyaal avarkal iruvarum maraththilae thookkippodappattarkal; ithu raaja samukaththilae naalaakamappusthakaththilae eluthappattirukkirathu.
