Who stroke Abimelech the son of Jerubbesheth? did not a woman cast a piece of a millstone upon him from the wall, that he died in Thebez? why went all of you nigh the wall? then say you, Your servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also.

எருப்பேசேத்தினுடைய மகன் அபிமெலேக்கைக் கொன்றது யார்? தேபேசிலே ஒரு பெண்பிள்ளை மதிலின் மேலிருந்து ஒரு மாவரைக்கும் கல்லின் துண்டை அவன்மேல் போட்டதால் அல்லவோ அவன் இறந்தான்; நீங்கள் மதிலிற்கு இவ்வளவு அருகில் போனது என்ன என்று உன்னோடு சொன்னால், அப்பொழுது நீ, உம்முடைய வீரனான உரியா என்னும் ஏத்தியனும் இறந்தான் என்று சொல் என்றான்.

எருப்சேத்தின் மகனாகிய அபிமெலேக்கை ஒரு பெண் கொன்றாள் என்பதை அவன் நிச்சயமாக அறிவான். அது தேபேசில் நடந்தது. அப்பெண் நகர மதிலில் அமர்ந்திருந்து அரைக்கிற கல்லின் மேல்பாகத்தை அபிமெலேக்கின் மேல் எறிந்தாள். எனவே, ‘ஏன் யோவாப் மதிலுக்கு மிக அருகே சென்றான்?’ என்றும் கேட்கக் கூடும். தாவீது அரசன் இவ்வாறு கூறினால் அவனிடம் இச்செய்தியைக் கூறவேண்டும்: ‘உங்கள் அதிகாரிகளில் ஏத்தியனான உரியாவும் மரித்துவிட்டான்’” என்றான்.
