அந்தப்படியே கிறிஸ்துவும் பிரதான ஆசாரியராகிறதற்குத் தம்மைத்தாமே உயர்த்தவில்லை; நீர் என்னுடைய குமாரன், இன்று நான் உம்மை ஜெநிப்பித்தேன் என்று அவரோடே சொன்னவரே அவரை உயர்த்தினார்.

அப்படியே கிறிஸ்துவும் பிரதான ஆசாரியராகிறதற்குத் தம்மைத்தாமே உயர்த்தவில்லை; நீர் என்னுடைய நேசகுமாரன், இன்று நான் உம் தகப்பனானேன் என்று அவரோடு சொன்னவரே அவரை உயர்த்தினார்.

கிறிஸ்துவின் செயலும் அப்படித்தான். பிரதான ஆசாரியன் ஆகும் பெருமைக்கு அவர் தன்னைத்தானே தேர்ந்தெடுக்கவில்லை. தேவன் அவரைத் தேர்ந்தெடுத்தார். அவர் கிறிஸ்துவிடம், “நீர் எனது மகன். இன்று நான் உமக்குப் பிதா ஆனேன்” என்று கூறினார்.

அவ்வாறே கிறிஸ்துவும் தலைமைக் குருவாகத் தம்மையே உயர்த்திக் கொள்ளவில்லை.⁽ “நீர் என் மைந்தர்; இன்று நான் §உம்மைப் பெற்றெடுத்தேன்”⁾ என்று அவரிடம் கூறியவரே அந்த மேன்மையை அவருக்கு அளித்தார்.
