விருந்திலே திராட்சரசம் பரிமாறப்படுகையில், ராஜா எஸ்தரைப் பார்த்து: உன் வேண்டுதல் என்ன? அது உனக்குக் கொடுக்கப்படும்; நீ கேட்கிறது என்ன? நீ ராஜ்யத்தில் பாதிமட்டும் கேட்டாலும் கிடைக்கும் என்றான்.

அவர்கள் திராட்சைரசம் குடித்துக்கொண்டிருக்கும்போது அரசன் மீண்டும் எஸ்தரிடம், “இப்போது எஸ்தரே, என்னிடம் நீ என்ன கேட்க விருப்புகிறாய்.? நான் அதனை உனக்கு கொடுப்பேன். நீ என்ன விரும்புகிறாய்? நீ என்ன விரும்பினாலும் அதனை நான் உனக்குக் கொடுப்பேன். நான் எனது பாதி இராஜ்யம்வரை கொடுப்பேன்.” என்றான்.
