সৈন্যসামন্ত জড়ো করে নিয়ে শৌল যুদ্ধ করতে গেলেন| পলেষ্টীয় সৈন্যরা বিভ্রান্ত হয়ে গেল| এমনকি তারা তাদের তরবারি ব্যবহার করে একে অপরের সঙ্গে লড়াই করছিল|

সামুয়েল ১ 28:3
শমূয়েল মারা গেল| তার মৃত্যুতে ইস্রায়েলীয়রা সকলেই শোক প্রকাশ করল| তারা তাকে তার নিজের দেশ রামায় কবর দিলযারা প্রেতাত্মা নামায আর ভবিষ্যত্‌ বলতে পারে তাদের সকলকে শৌল বলপূর্বক ইস্রাযেল থেকে সরিয়ে দিয়েছিলেন|

ইস্রায়েলের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধে পলেষ্টীয়রা জিতে গেল| ইস্রায়েলীয়রা পলেষ্টীয়দের কাছ থেকে পালিয়ে গেল| গিল্বোয পর্বতের চূড়ায় অনেক ইস্রায়েলীয় মারা গেল|

দায়ূদ থলে থেকে একটা পাথর বের করলেন| সেটাকে তাঁর গুলতির মধ্যে রেখে তিনি ছুঁড়লেন| গুলতি থেকে পাথরটি ছিটকে গিয়ে একেবারে গলিযাতের দু চোখের মাঝখানে পড়ে ওর মাথার ভেতর অনেকখানি ঢুকে গেল| গলিযাত্‌ মুখ থুবড়ে মাটিতে পড়ে গেল|
