ஏசாயா 30:28
நாசம் என்னும் சல்லடையிலே ஜாதிகளை அரிக்கும்படிக்கு அவர் ஊதும் சுவாசம் கழுத்துமட்டும் எட்டுகிற ஆற்றுவெள்ளத்தைப்போலவும், ஜனங்களுடைய வாயிலேபோட்டு அலைக்கழிக்கிற கடிவாளத்தைப்போலவும் இருக்கும்.

நாசம் என்னும் சல்லடையிலே தேசங்களை அரிப்பதற்கு அவர் ஊதும் சுவாசம் கழுத்துவரை எட்டுகிற ஆற்றுவெள்ளத்தைப்போலவும், மக்களுடைய வாயிலே போட்டு அலைக்கழிக்கிற கடிவாளத்தைப்போலவும் இருக்கும்.

கர்த்தருடைய சுவாசமானது (ஆவி) கழுத்து மட்டும் எட்டுகிற ஆற்று வெள்ளத்தைப் போன்றுள்ளது. தேசங்களைக் கர்த்தர் நியாயந்தீர்ப்பார். இது “நாசம் என்னும் சல்லடையில்” தேசங்களை அசைப்பது போல இருக்கும். கர்த்தர் அவர்களைக் கட்டுப்படுத்துவார். அது ஜனங்களின் வாயிலே போட்டு கட்டுப்படுத்துகிற கடிவாளத்தைப் போன்றிருக்கும்.

and his breath is as an overflowing stream, that reacheth even unto the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of destruction: and a bridle that causeth to err `shall be’ in the jaws of the peoples.
