ஞானவான்களுடைய போதகம் ஜீவஊற்று; அதினால் மரணக்கண்ணிகளுக்குத் தப்பலாம்.

ஞானிகளின் நாவு அறிவை உபயோகப்படுத்தும்; மூடரின் வாயோ புத்தியீனத்தைக் கக்கும்.

நீதிமானுடைய மனம் பிரதியுத்தரம் சொல்ல யோசிக்கும்; துன்மார்க்கனுடைய வாயோ தீமைகளைக் கொப்பளிக்கும்.

மனுஷனுடைய வாய்மொழிகள் ஆழமான ஜலம்போலிருக்கும்; ஞானத்தின் ஊற்று பாய்கிற ஆற்றைப்போலிருக்கும்.

அவர்களை விட்டுவிடுங்கள், அவர்கள் குருடருக்கு வழிகாட்டுகிற குருடராயிருக்கிறார்கள்; குருடனுக்குக் குருடன் வழிகாட்டினால் இருவரும் குழியிலே விழுவார்களே என்றார்.

குருடரான வழிகாட்டிகளே! உங்களுக்கு ஐயோ, எவனாகிலும் தேவாலயத்தின்பேரில் சத்தியம்பண்ணினால் அதினால் ஒன்றுமில்லையென்றும், எவனாகிலும் தேவாலயத்தின் பொன்னின்பேரில் சத்தியம்பண்ணினால் அவன் கடனாளியென்றும் சொல்லுகிறீர்கள்.

ஆவியே உயிர்ப்பிக்கிறது, மாம்சமானது ஒன்றுக்கும் உதவாது; நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிற வசனங்கள் ஆவியாயும் ஜீவனாயும் இருக்கிறது.
