దమస్కు నదులైన అబానాయును ఫర్పరును ఇశ్రాయేలు దేశములోని నదులన్నిటికంటె శ్రేష్ఠమైనవి కావా? వాటిలో స్నానముచేసి శుద్ధి నొందలేనా అని అనుకొని రౌద్రుడై తిరిగి వెళ్లిపోయెను.

ఒంటిమీదినుండి క్రిందపడిన ఆ దుప్పటిని పట్టుకొని నీటిమీద కొట్టిఏలీయాయొక్క దేవుడైన యెహోవా ఎక్కడ ఉన్నాడనెను. అతడు ఆ దుప్పటితో నీటిని కొట్టగా అది ఇటు అటు విడిపోయి నందున ఎలీషా అవతలి యొడ్డునకు నడిచిపోయెను.
2 Kings 2:8
అంతట ఏలీయా తన దుప్పటి తీసికొని మడత పెట్టి నీటిమీద కొట్టగా అది ఇవతలకును అవతలకును విడి పోయెను గనుక వారిద్దరు పొడినేలమీద దాటిపోయిరి.
