யோசுவா ஆயியைப் பிடித்து, சங்காரம்பண்ணி, எரிகோவுக்கும் அதின் ராஜாவுக்கும் செய்ததையும், கிபியோனின் குடிகள் இஸ்ரவேலோடே சமாதானம்பண்ணி அவர்களுக்குள் வாசமாயிருக்கிறதையும், எருசலேமின் ராஜாவாகிய அதோனிசேதேக் கேள்விப்பட்டபோது,

அக்காலத்தில் அதோனிசேதேக் எருசலேமின் அரசனாக இருந்தான். யோசுவா ஆயீ நகரைத் தோற்கடித்து முற்றிலும் அழித்துவிட்டான் என்ற செய்தியை அந்த அரசன் அறிந்தான். எரிகோவிற்கும் அதன் அரசனுக்கும் யோசுவா அவ்வாறே செய்தான் என்பதையும் அவன் தெரிந்து கொண்டான். கிபியோனியர் இஸ்ரவேலரோடு சமாதான ஒப்பந்தம் செய்து கொண்டதையும் அவன் அறிந்திருந்தான். அந்த ஜனங்கள் எருசலேமுக்கு வெகு அருகாமையில் வாழ்ந்தனர்.
