ਅਸੀਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਵਾਪਰੇਗੀ। ਮਿਸਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ, ‘ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨੀ ਕਰਕੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਪਰੇਸ਼ਾਨ ਨਾ ਕਰ। ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇੱਥੇ ਰਹਿਣ ਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਮਿਸਰੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਗੁਲਾਮੀ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ।’ ਸਾਡੇ ਲਈ, ਇੱਥੇ ਆਕੇ ਮਾਰੂਥਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਰਨ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਓੱਥੇ ਗੁਲਾਮ ਬਣਕੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ ਵੱਧੇਰੇ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ।”
ਗਿਣਤੀ 21:4
ਕਾਂਸੇ ਦਾ ਸੱਪ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਹੋਰ ਪਰਬਤ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਕੇ ਲਾਲ ਸਾਗਰ ਵੱਲ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਸੜਕ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੱਲ ਪਏ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਅਦੋਮ ਦੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਆਲੇ-ਦੁਆਲੇ ਜਾਣ ਲਈ ਕੀਤਾ। ਪਰ ਲੋਕ ਅਧੀਰ ਹੋ ਉੱਠੇ।

“ਮੈਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਰਿੁੱਸ਼ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ, ਕੀ ਮੈਂ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ? ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਬੇਸਬਰਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਾ ਹੋਵਾਂ?
