ਤਕਰੀਬਨ ਤਿੰਨ ਵਜੇ ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਉੱਚੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੁਕਾਰਿਆ, “ਏਲੀ-ਏਲੀ ਲਮਾ ਸਬਕਤਾਨੀ?” ਇਸਦਾ ਮਤਲਬ ਸੀ, “ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ, ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਉਂ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ?”

ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਚਲਣ ਦਾ ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦੁੱਖ ਮਿਲਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਸੇਵਕ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ-ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਹਵਾਲੇ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਪਰ ਉਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਲੰਮੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਤੱਕ ਨਵਾਂ ਜੀਵਨ ਜੀਵੇਗਾ। ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲੇਗਾ। ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਿਆਂ ਕਰੇਗਾ ਜਿਹੜੀਆਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉਸ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਕਰਵਾਉਣੀਆਂ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨੂਹ 1:12
ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਰਾਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਲੰਘ ਰਹੇ ਹੋ ਤੁਸੀ ਕੋਈ ਪ੍ਰਵਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਜਾਪਦੇ। ਪਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਵੱਲ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਵੇਖੋ। ਕੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਦਰਦ ਵਰਗਾ, ਕੋਈ ਹੋਰ ਦਰਦ ਹੈ? ਕੀ ਉਸ ਦਰਦ ਵਰਗਾ ਕੋਈ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਦਰਦ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ? ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਹਾਂ ਕਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ।

ਤਿੰਨ ਕੁ ਵਜੇ, ਯਿਸੂ ਉੱਚੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੀਕਿਆ, “ਏਲੋਈ ਏਲੋਈ ਲਮਾ ਸਬਕਤਾਨੀ।” ਜਿਸਦਾ ਅਰਥ ਹੈ, “ਮੇਰੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ, ਮੇਰੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ, ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇੱਕਲਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ?”

ਯਿਸੂ ਨੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦੀ ਪੁਕਾਰ ਕੀਤੀ, “ਹੇ ਪਿਤਾ! ਮੈਂ ਅਪਣਾ ਆਤਮਾ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸੌਂਪਦਾ ਹਾਂ।” ਇਹ ਕਹਿਣ ਤੋਂ ਉਪਰੰਤ ਯਿਸੂ ਪ੍ਰਾਣ-ਹੀਣ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।
ਯੂਹੰਨਾ 19:28
ਯਿਸੂ ਦੀ ਮੌਤ ਯਿਸੂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਸੰਪੂਰਨ ਹੋ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਪੋਥੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੋ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੈ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਪਿਆਸਾ ਹਾਂ।”
