ਇਸ ਲਈ ਸ਼ਕਮ ਦੇ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੇ ਅਬੀਮਲਕ ਨੂੰ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਦੇ 70 ਸਿੱਕੇ ਦਿੱਤੇ। ਇਹ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਬਆਲ ਬਰੀਥ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਦੀ ਸੀ। ਅਬੀਮਲਕ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਚਾਂਦੀ ਨੂੰ ਗੁਲਾਮ ਖਰੀਦਣ ਲਈ ਵਰਤਿਆ। ਇਹ ਆਦਮੀ ਬੇਕਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਲਾਪਰਵਾਹ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਵੀ ਅਬੀਮਲਕ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਂਦੇ।

ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਮਗਰ ਹੋ ਪਏ। ਉੱਥੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਾਰੇ ਹੋਏ ਲੋਕ ਸਨ, ਕੁਝ ਕਰਜਾਈ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੇ ਗਰੀਬ ਲੋਕ, ਦੁੱਖੀ ਲੋਕ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਝ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਤੋਂ ਉਪਰਾਮ ਹੋਏ ਲੋਕ ਸਨ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਭ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਗੂ ਮੰਨਿਆ। ਹੁਣ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਕਰੀਬ 400 ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਨ।

ਅੰਮੋਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਲੜਾਈ ਜਦੋਂ ਅੰਮੋਨੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਦਾਊਦ ਹੁਣ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਵੈਰੀ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਅੰਮੋਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਬੈਤ-ਰਹੋਬ ਦੇ ਅਰਾਮੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸੋਬਾ ਦੇ ਅਰਾਮੀਆਂ ਕੋਲੋਂ 20,000 ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਤੇ ਅੰਮੋਨੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਮਆਕਾਹ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਤੋਂ 1,000 ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਤੇ ਟੋਬ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਤੋਂ 12,000 ਆਦਮੀ ਖਰੀਦੇ।

ਤਾਂ ਅੰਮੋਨੀ ਬਾਹਰ ਨਿਕਲੇ ਅਤੇ ਲੜਾਈ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ। ਉਹ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ ਦੁਆਰ ਅੱਗੇ ਖੜੋ ਗਏ। ਸੋਬਾ ਅਤੇ ਰਹੋਬ ਦੇ ਅਰਾਮੀ ਅਤੇ ਟੋਬ ਅਤੇ ਮਆਕਾਹ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਮੈਦਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਅੰਮੋਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸੰਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਏ।

ਇਉਂ ਦਾਊਦ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ 600 ਸਾਥੀ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਛੱਡ ਗਏ। ਉਹ ਗਥ ਦੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਮਾਓਕ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਆਕੀਸ਼ ਵੱਲ ਚੱਲਾ ਗਿਆ।

ਉਸ ਟੋਲੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੁਝ ਬੁਰੇ ਆਦਮੀ ਵੀ ਸਨ ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਭਨਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਫ਼ਸਾਦ ਖੜ੍ਹੇ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਕਿ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਵੀ ਗਏ ਸਨ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਝਗੜਾਲੂਆਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਇਹ 200 ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਗਏ ਸਨ। ਇਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਉੱਥੋਂ ਵਾਪਸ ਲਿਆਏ ਹਾਂ, ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਵਾਂਗੇ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਬੀਵੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਹੀ ਵਾਪਸ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ।”
ਅੱਯੂਬ 30:1
“ਪਰ ਹੁਣ, ਉਹ ਲੋਕ ਵੀ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਉਮਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਛੋਟੇ ਹਨ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਜ਼ਾਕ ਉਡਾ ਰਹੇ ਨੇ। ਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਇੰਨੇ ਨਿਕੰਮੇ ਸਨ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਭੇਡਾਂ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਰਾਨੀ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਕੁਤਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਖ ਸੱਕਦਾ।

ਪਰ ਉਹ ਯਹੂਦੀ, ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਾਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਈਰਖਾ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗੇ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਕੁਝ ਭੈੜੇ ਆਦਮੀ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਚੋ ਭਾੜੇ ਤੇ ਲਏ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਭੈੜਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀ ਭੀੜ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਗਰ ਲਾ ਲਿਆ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੰਗੇ ਮਚਾ ਦਿੱਤੇ। ਉਹ ਯਾਸੋਨ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੱਭਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਗਏ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਕਰ ਸੱਕਣ।
