ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਦੋਂ ਰਾਜ ਕਰਨਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ 20 ਸਾਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਉੱਤੇ 16 ਸਾਲਾਂ ਲਈ ਰਾਜ ਕੀਤਾ। ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁਰਖੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਵਰਗਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਨਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਜੋ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੰਗਾ ਸੀ।
