1 Samuel 12:2
ਹੁਣ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਅੱਗੇ-ਅੱਗੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਲਈ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਵੀ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਹੁਣ ਬੁੱਢਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਲ ਚਿੱਟੇ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਪਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਹਨ। ਜਦ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਅਜੇ ਛੋਟਾ ਜਿਹਾ ਬਾਲਕ ਸੀ ਤਦ ਤੋਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਆਗੂ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ।

ਫ਼ਿਰ ਅਸੀਂ ਵੀ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਕੌਮਾਂ ਵਰਗੇ ਹੋ ਜਾਵਾਂਗੇ। ਸਾਡਾ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਸਾਡੇ ਅੱਗੇ-ਅੱਗੇ ਤੁਰੇ, ਜੋ ਸਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਲੜ ਸੱਕੇ।”

ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੀ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਲਈ ਮੰਗ ਜਦੋਂ ਸਮੂਏਲ ਬੁੱਢਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਉੱਪਰ ਨਿਆਉਂ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਠਹਿਰਾਇਆ।

ਪਰ ਸਮੂਏਲ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਵਾਂਗ ਨਾ ਰਹੇ। ਯੋਏਲ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਬਿਯਾਹ ਨੇ ਰਿਸ਼ਵਤਾਂ ਲਈਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਿਆਂ ਬਦਲ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਸਨ। ਉਹ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਧੋਖਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਸਨ।

ਜਦੋਂ ਸਮੂਏਲ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੋ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸੀ। ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਸਮੂਏਲ ਦੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਾਕ ਨੂੰ ਝੂਠਾ ਨਾ ਹੋਣ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

ਮੈਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਰਥਨਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਆਗੂ ਚੁਣੇ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਯੁੱਧ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕਰੇਗਾ। ਫ਼ੇਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਬਿਨ ਅਯਾਲੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਭੇਡਾਂ ਵਰਗੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਣਗੇ।”

ਮੈਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਛੇਤੀ ਹੀ ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਛੱਡਣਾ ਪਵੇਗਾ। ਸਾਡੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਯਿਸੂ ਮਸੀਹ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਦਰਸ਼ਾਇਆ ਹੈ।

ਮੇਰਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਭੇਟਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਜੀਵਨ ਨੂੰ ਛੱਡਣ ਦਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਆ ਚੁੱਕਿਆ ਹੈ।

ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਬੁੱਢਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਵਾਲ ਧੌਲੇ ਹਨ। ਪਰ ਹੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਮੈਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੱਡੇਂਗਾ। ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਮਹਾਨਤਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਹਰ ਨਵੀਂ ਪੀੜੀ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਾਂਗਾ।

ਪਰ ਏਲੀ ਨੇ ਸਮੂਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ, “ਸਮੂਏਲ, ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ!” ਸਮੂਏਲ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਹਾਂ, ਸੁਆਮੀ!”

ਇਹ ਮੈਂ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ ਕਿਉਂਕਿ ਏਲੀ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਰਾ ਭਲਾ ਕਹਿ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੰਦੇ ਕਰਮ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ। ਅਤੇ ਏਲੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਾਬੂ ਨਾ ਪਾ ਸੱਕਿਆ।

ਤਾਂ ਫ਼ਿਰ ਤੂੰ ਬਲੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਗਾਤਾਂ ਦਾ ਸਂਮਾਨ ਕਿਉਂ ਨਾ ਕੀਤਾ? ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਸੰਮਾਨ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਮਾਸ ਦੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧੀਆਂ ਹਿੱਸੇ ਖਾਕੇ ਮੋਟਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈਂ ਜੋ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਲਿਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।’

ਏਲੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਬਦ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਾਬੂ ਨਾ ਪਾ ਸੱਕਿਆ ਏਲੀ ਬਹੁਤ ਬੁੱਢਾ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਿਲੋਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁੱਤਰਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਬਦ ਕਰਨੀਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਸੁਣਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ। ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਖਬਰ ਮਿਲੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਮੰਡਲੀ ਵਾਲੇ ਤੰਬੂ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ ਦੁਆਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਔਰਤਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਵੀ ਸੌਁਦੇ ਸਨ ਜਿਹੜੀਆਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਲਈ ਭੇਟਾ ਲਿਆਉਣ ਲਈ ਇਕੱਠੀਆਂ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਸਨ।
