ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਅਈ ਦੀ ਫ਼ੌਜ ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਿੱਛਾਂਹ ਵੱਲ ਧੱਕਣ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਆਦਮੀ ਪੂਰਬ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਾਸੇ ਮਾਰੂਥਲ ਵੱਲ ਭੱਜਣ ਲੱਗੇ।

ਇਸ ਲਈ ਬਿਨਯਾਮੀਨ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਹਾਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ। ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀ ਫ਼ੌਜ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਹਟੀ ਅਤੇ ਬਿਨਯਾਮੀਨ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਥਾਂ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਨਿਰਭਰ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ ਜੋ ਬਿਨਯਾਮੀਨੀਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਘਾਤ ਲਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਇੰਤਜ਼ਾਰ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ।
