ਉਮੀਦ ਦੇ ਇਕਰਾਰ ਇਹ ਉਹ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਿਆ।

ਇਹ ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਹਨ। ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਹਿਲਕੀਯਾਹ ਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਇੱਕ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਸੀ। ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਉਸ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸੀ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਅਨਾਬੋਬ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਉਸ ਦੇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਬਿਨਯਾਮੀਨ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਦੇ ਅਧੀਨ ਹੈ।

ਪਰ ਜੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦਿਓਗੇ, ਤਾਂ ਇੱਕ ਗੱਲ ਬਾਰੇ ਯਕੀਨ ਰੱਖਣਾ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇੱਕ ਬੇਗੁਨਾਹ ਬੰਦੇ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨ ਦੇ ਦੋਸ਼ੀ ਹੋਵੋਗੇ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਇਸ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਦੇ ਹਰ ਵਾਸੀ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਦੋਸ਼ੀ ਬਣਾ ਦਿਓਗੇ। ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਸੱਚਮੁੱਚ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵੱਲ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਹੈ। ਜਿਹੜਾ ਸੰਦੇਸ਼ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਹੈ ਓਹ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਹੀ ਹੈ।”
