וְיַֽעֲקֹ֖ב Jacob veh-ya-uh-KOVE הָלַ֣ךְ went ha-LAHK לְדַרְכּ֑וֹ on leh-dahr-KOH וַיִּפְגְּעוּ his va-yeef-ɡeh-OO ב֖וֹ way, voh מַלְאֲכֵ֥י and mahl-uh-HAY אֱלֹהִֽים׃ the ay-loh-HEEM -
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר when va-YOH-mer יַֽעֲקֹב֙ Jacob ya-uh-KOVE כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֣ר saw ka-uh-SHER רָאָ֔ם them, ra-AM מַֽחֲנֵ֥ה he ma-huh-NAY אֱלֹהִ֖ים said, ay-loh-HEEM זֶ֑ה This zeh וַיִּקְרָ֛א is va-yeek-RA שֵֽׁם God's shame הַמָּק֥וֹם host: ha-ma-KOME הַה֖וּא and ha-HOO מַֽחֲנָֽיִם׃ he MA-huh-NA-yeem -
וַיִּשְׁלַ֨ח Jacob va-yeesh-LAHK יַֽעֲקֹ֤ב sent ya-uh-KOVE מַלְאָכִים֙ messengers mahl-ah-HEEM לְפָנָ֔יו before leh-fa-NAV אֶל him el עֵשָׂ֖ו to ay-SAHV אָחִ֑יו Esau ah-HEEOO אַ֥רְצָה his AR-tsa שֵׂעִ֖יר brother say-EER שְׂדֵ֥ה unto seh-DAY אֱדֽוֹם׃ the ay-DOME -
וַיְצַ֤ו he vai-TSAHV אֹתָם֙ commanded oh-TAHM לֵאמֹ֔ר them, lay-MORE כֹּ֣ה saying, koh תֹֽאמְר֔וּן Thus toh-meh-ROON לַֽאדֹנִ֖י shall la-doh-NEE לְעֵשָׂ֑ו ye leh-ay-SAHV כֹּ֤ה speak koh אָמַר֙ unto ah-MAHR עַבְדְּךָ֣ my av-deh-HA יַֽעֲקֹ֔ב lord ya-uh-KOVE עִם Esau; eem לָבָ֣ן Thy la-VAHN גַּ֔רְתִּי servant ɡAHR-tee וָֽאֵחַ֖ר Jacob va-ay-HAHR עַד saith ad עָֽתָּה׃ thus, AH-ta -
וַֽיְהִי I VA-hee לִי֙ have lee שׁ֣וֹר oxen, shore וַֽחֲמ֔וֹר and va-huh-MORE צֹ֖אן asses, tsone וְעֶ֣בֶד flocks, veh-EH-ved וְשִׁפְחָ֑ה and veh-sheef-HA וָֽאֶשְׁלְחָה֙ menservants, va-esh-leh-HA לְהַגִּ֣יד and leh-ha-ɡEED לַֽאדֹנִ֔י womenservants: la-doh-NEE לִמְצֹא and leem-TSOH חֵ֖ן I hane בְּעֵינֶֽיךָ׃ have beh-ay-NAY-ha -
וַיָּשֻׁ֙בוּ֙ the va-ya-SHOO-VOO הַמַּלְאָכִ֔ים messengers ha-mahl-ah-HEEM אֶֽל returned el יַעֲקֹ֖ב to ya-uh-KOVE לֵאמֹ֑ר Jacob, lay-MORE בָּ֤אנוּ saying, BA-noo אֶל We el אָחִ֙יךָ֙ came ah-HEE-HA אֶל to el עֵשָׂ֔ו thy ay-SAHV וְגַם֙ brother veh-ɡAHM הֹלֵ֣ךְ Esau, hoh-LAKE לִקְרָֽאתְךָ֔ and leek-ra-teh-HA וְאַרְבַּע also veh-ar-BA מֵא֥וֹת he may-OTE אִ֖ישׁ cometh eesh עִמּֽוֹ׃ to ee-moh -
וַיִּירָ֧א Jacob va-yee-RA יַֽעֲקֹ֛ב was ya-uh-KOVE מְאֹ֖ד greatly meh-ODE וַיֵּ֣צֶר afraid va-YAY-tser ל֑וֹ and loh וַיַּ֜חַץ distressed: va-YA-hahts אֶת and et הָעָ֣ם he ha-AM אֲשֶׁר divided uh-SHER אִתּ֗וֹ EE-toh וְאֶת the veh-ET הַצֹּ֧אן people ha-TSONE וְאֶת that veh-ET הַבָּקָ֛ר was ha-ba-KAHR וְהַגְּמַלִּ֖ים with veh-ha-ɡeh-ma-LEEM לִשְׁנֵ֥י him, leesh-NAY מַֽחֲנֽוֹת׃ and MA-huh-NOTE -
וַיֹּ֕אמֶר said, va-YOH-mer אִם If eem יָב֥וֹא Esau ya-VOH עֵשָׂ֛ו come ay-SAHV אֶל to el הַמַּֽחֲנֶ֥ה the ha-ma-huh-NEH הָֽאַחַ֖ת one ha-ah-HAHT וְהִכָּ֑הוּ company, veh-hee-KA-hoo וְהָיָ֛ה and veh-ha-YA הַמַּֽחֲנֶ֥ה smite ha-ma-huh-NEH הַנִּשְׁאָ֖ר it, ha-neesh-AR לִפְלֵיטָֽה׃ then leef-lay-TA -
וַיֹּאמֶר֮ Jacob va-yoh-MER יַֽעֲקֹב֒ said, ya-uh-KOVE אֱלֹהֵי֙ O ay-loh-HAY אָבִ֣י God ah-VEE אַבְרָהָ֔ם of av-ra-HAHM וֵֽאלֹהֵ֖י my vay-loh-HAY אָבִ֣י father ah-VEE יִצְחָ֑ק Abraham, yeets-HAHK יְהוָ֞ה and yeh-VA הָֽאֹמֵ֣ר God ha-oh-MARE אֵלַ֗י of ay-LAI שׁ֧וּב my shoov לְאַרְצְךָ֛ father leh-ar-tseh-HA וּלְמֽוֹלַדְתְּךָ֖ Isaac, oo-leh-moh-lahd-teh-HA וְאֵיטִ֥יבָה the veh-ay-TEE-va עִמָּֽךְ׃ Lord ee-MAHK -
קָטֹ֜נְתִּי am ka-TOH-neh-tee מִכֹּ֤ל not mee-KOLE הַֽחֲסָדִים֙ worthy ha-huh-sa-DEEM וּמִכָּל of oo-mee-KAHL הָ֣אֱמֶ֔ת the HA-ay-MET אֲשֶׁ֥ר least uh-SHER עָשִׂ֖יתָ of ah-SEE-ta אֶת all et עַבְדֶּ֑ךָ the av-DEH-ha כִּ֣י mercies, kee בְמַקְלִ֗י and veh-mahk-LEE עָבַ֙רְתִּי֙ of ah-VAHR-TEE אֶת all et הַיַּרְדֵּ֣ן the ha-yahr-DANE הַזֶּ֔ה truth, ha-ZEH וְעַתָּ֥ה which veh-ah-TA הָיִ֖יתִי thou ha-YEE-tee לִשְׁנֵ֥י hast leesh-NAY מַֽחֲנֽוֹת׃ shewed MA-huh-NOTE -
הַצִּילֵ֥נִי me, ha-tsee-LAY-nee נָ֛א I na מִיַּ֥ד pray mee-YAHD אָחִ֖י thee, ah-HEE מִיַּ֣ד from mee-YAHD עֵשָׂ֑ו the ay-SAHV כִּֽי hand kee יָרֵ֤א of ya-RAY אָֽנֹכִי֙ my ah-noh-HEE אֹת֔וֹ brother, oh-TOH פֶּן from pen יָב֣וֹא the ya-VOH וְהִכַּ֔נִי hand veh-hee-KA-nee אֵ֖ם of ame עַל Esau: al בָּנִֽים׃ for ba-NEEM -
וְאַתָּ֣ה thou veh-ah-TA אָמַ֔רְתָּ saidst, ah-MAHR-ta הֵיטֵ֥ב I hay-TAVE אֵיטִ֖יב will ay-TEEV עִמָּ֑ךְ surely ee-MAHK וְשַׂמְתִּ֤י do veh-sahm-TEE אֶֽת thee et זַרְעֲךָ֙ good, zahr-uh-HA כְּח֣וֹל and keh-HOLE הַיָּ֔ם make ha-YAHM אֲשֶׁ֥ר uh-SHER לֹֽא thy loh יִסָּפֵ֖ר seed yee-sa-FARE מֵרֹֽב׃ as may-ROVE -
וַיָּ֥לֶן he va-YA-len שָׁ֖ם lodged shahm בַּלַּ֣יְלָה there ba-LA-la הַה֑וּא that ha-HOO וַיִּקַּ֞ח same va-yee-KAHK מִן night; meen הַבָּ֧א and ha-BA בְיָד֛וֹ took veh-ya-DOH מִנְחָ֖ה of meen-HA לְעֵשָׂ֥ו that leh-ay-SAHV אָחִֽיו׃ which ah-HEEV -
עִזִּ֣ים hundred ee-ZEEM מָאתַ֔יִם she ma-TA-yeem וּתְיָשִׁ֖ים goats, oo-teh-ya-SHEEM עֶשְׂרִ֑ים and es-REEM רְחֵלִ֥ים twenty reh-hay-LEEM מָאתַ֖יִם he ma-TA-yeem וְאֵילִ֥ים goats, veh-ay-LEEM עֶשְׂרִֽים׃ two es-REEM -
גְּמַלִּ֧ים milch ɡeh-ma-LEEM מֵֽינִיק֛וֹת camels may-nee-KOTE וּבְנֵיהֶ֖ם with oo-veh-nay-HEM שְׁלֹשִׁ֑ים their sheh-loh-SHEEM פָּר֤וֹת colts, pa-ROTE אַרְבָּעִים֙ forty ar-ba-EEM וּפָרִ֣ים kine, oo-fa-REEM עֲשָׂרָ֔ה and uh-sa-RA אֲתֹנֹ֣ת ten uh-toh-NOTE עֶשְׂרִ֔ים bulls, es-REEM וַעְיָרִ֖ם twenty va-ya-REEM עֲשָׂרָֽה׃ she uh-sa-RA -
וַיִּתֵּן֙ he va-yee-TANE בְּיַד delivered beh-YAHD עֲבָדָ֔יו them uh-va-DAV עֵ֥דֶר into A-der עֵ֖דֶר the A-der לְבַדּ֑וֹ hand leh-VA-doh וַ֤יֹּאמֶר of VA-yoh-mer אֶל his el עֲבָדָיו֙ servants, uh-va-dav עִבְר֣וּ every eev-ROO לְפָנַ֔י drove leh-fa-NAI וְרֶ֣וַח veh-REH-vahk תָּשִׂ֔ימוּ by ta-SEE-moo בֵּ֥ין themselves; bane עֵ֖דֶר and A-der וּבֵ֥ין said oo-VANE עֵֽדֶר׃ unto A-der -
וַיְצַ֥ו he vai-TSAHV אֶת commanded et הָֽרִאשׁ֖וֹן ha-ree-SHONE לֵאמֹ֑ר the lay-MORE כִּ֣י foremost, kee יִֽפְגָּשְׁךָ֞ saying, yee-feh-ɡohsh-HA עֵשָׂ֣ו When ay-SAHV אָחִ֗י Esau ah-HEE וּשְׁאֵֽלְךָ֙ my oo-sheh-ay-leh-HA לֵאמֹ֔ר brother lay-MORE לְמִי meeteth leh-MEE אַ֙תָּה֙ thee, AH-TA וְאָ֣נָה and veh-AH-na תֵלֵ֔ךְ asketh tay-LAKE וּלְמִ֖י thee, oo-leh-MEE אֵ֥לֶּה saying, A-leh לְפָנֶֽיךָ׃ Whose leh-fa-NAY-ha -
וְאָֽמַרְתָּ֙ thou veh-ah-mahr-TA לְעַבְדְּךָ֣ shalt leh-av-deh-HA לְיַֽעֲקֹ֔ב say, leh-ya-uh-KOVE מִנְחָ֥ה They meen-HA הִוא֙ be heev שְׁלוּחָ֔ה thy sheh-loo-HA לַֽאדֹנִ֖י servant la-doh-NEE לְעֵשָׂ֑ו Jacob's; leh-ay-SAHV וְהִנֵּ֥ה it veh-hee-NAY גַם is ɡahm ה֖וּא a hoo אַֽחֲרֵֽינוּ׃ present AH-huh-RAY-noo -
וַיְצַ֞ו so vai-TSAHV גַּ֣ם commanded ɡahm אֶת he et הַשֵּׁנִ֗י ha-shay-NEE גַּ֚ם the ɡahm אֶת second, et הַשְּׁלִישִׁ֔י and ha-sheh-lee-SHEE גַּ֚ם ɡahm אֶת the et כָּל third, kahl הַהֹ֣לְכִ֔ים and ha-HOH-leh-HEEM אַֽחֲרֵ֥י ah-huh-RAY הָֽעֲדָרִ֖ים all ha-uh-da-REEM לֵאמֹ֑ר that lay-MORE כַּדָּבָ֤ר followed ka-da-VAHR הַזֶּה֙ ha-ZEH תְּדַבְּר֣וּן the teh-da-beh-ROON אֶל droves, el עֵשָׂ֔ו saying, ay-SAHV בְּמֹצַֽאֲכֶ֖ם On beh-moh-tsa-uh-HEM אֹתֽוֹ׃ this oh-TOH -
וַֽאֲמַרְתֶּ֕ם say va-uh-mahr-TEM גַּ֗ם ye ɡahm הִנֵּ֛ה moreover, hee-NAY עַבְדְּךָ֥ Behold, av-deh-HA יַֽעֲקֹ֖ב thy ya-uh-KOVE אַֽחֲרֵ֑ינוּ servant ah-huh-RAY-noo כִּֽי Jacob kee אָמַ֞ר is ah-MAHR אֲכַפְּרָ֣ה behind uh-ha-peh-RA פָנָ֗יו us. fa-NAV בַּמִּנְחָה֙ For ba-meen-HA הַֽהֹלֶ֣כֶת he ha-hoh-LEH-het לְפָנָ֔י said, leh-fa-NAI וְאַֽחֲרֵי I veh-AH-huh-ray כֵן֙ will hane אֶרְאֶ֣ה appease er-EH פָנָ֔יו him fa-NAV אוּלַ֖י with oo-LAI יִשָּׂ֥א the yee-SA פָנָֽי׃ present fa-NAI -
וַתַּֽעֲבֹ֥ר went va-ta-uh-VORE הַמִּנְחָ֖ה the ha-meen-HA עַל present al פָּנָ֑יו over pa-NAV וְה֛וּא before veh-HOO לָ֥ן him: lahn בַּלַּֽיְלָה ba-LA-la הַה֖וּא and ha-HOO בַּֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃ himself BA-ma-huh-NEH -
וַיָּ֣קָם׀ he va-YA-kome בַּלַּ֣יְלָה rose ba-LA-la ה֗וּא up hoo וַיִּקַּ֞ח that va-yee-KAHK אֶת night, et שְׁתֵּ֤י and sheh-TAY נָשָׁיו֙ took na-shav וְאֶת veh-ET שְׁתֵּ֣י his sheh-TAY שִׁפְחֹתָ֔יו two sheef-hoh-TAV וְאֶת wives, veh-ET אַחַ֥ד and ah-HAHD עָשָׂ֖ר his ah-SAHR יְלָדָ֑יו two yeh-la-DAV וַֽיַּעֲבֹ֔ר womenservants, va-ya-uh-VORE אֵ֖ת and ate מַֽעֲבַ֥ר his ma-uh-VAHR יַבֹּֽק׃ eleven ya-BOKE -
וַיִּקָּחֵ֔ם he va-yee-ka-HAME וַיַּֽעֲבִרֵ֖ם took va-ya-uh-vee-RAME אֶת them, et הַנָּ֑חַל and ha-NA-hahl וַֽיַּעֲבֵ֖ר sent va-ya-uh-VARE אֶת them et אֲשֶׁר over uh-SHER לֽוֹ׃ loh -
וַיִּוָּתֵ֥ר Jacob va-yee-wa-TARE יַֽעֲקֹ֖ב was ya-uh-KOVE לְבַדּ֑וֹ left leh-VA-doh וַיֵּֽאָבֵ֥ק alone; va-yay-ah-VAKE אִישׁ֙ and eesh עִמּ֔וֹ there EE-moh עַ֖ד wrestled ad עֲל֥וֹת a uh-LOTE הַשָּֽׁחַר׃ man ha-SHA-hahr -
וַיַּ֗רְא when va-YAHR כִּ֣י he kee לֹ֤א saw loh יָכֹל֙ that ya-HOLE ל֔וֹ he loh וַיִּגַּ֖ע prevailed va-yee-ɡA בְּכַף not beh-HAHF יְרֵכ֑וֹ against yeh-ray-HOH וַתֵּ֙קַע֙ him, va-TAY-KA כַּף he kahf יֶ֣רֶךְ touched YEH-rek יַֽעֲקֹ֔ב the ya-uh-KOVE בְּהֵֽאָבְק֖וֹ hollow beh-hay-ove-KOH עִמּֽוֹ׃ of ee-moh -
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר he va-YOH-mer שַׁלְּחֵ֔נִי said, sha-leh-HAY-nee כִּ֥י Let kee עָלָ֖ה me ah-LA הַשָּׁ֑חַר go, ha-SHA-hahr וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ for va-YOH-MER לֹ֣א the loh אֲשַֽׁלֵּחֲךָ֔ day uh-sha-lay-huh-HA כִּ֖י breaketh. kee אִם And eem בֵּֽרַכְתָּֽנִי׃ he BAY-rahk-TA-nee -
וַיֹּ֥אמֶר he va-YOH-mer אֵלָ֖יו said ay-LAV מַה unto ma שְּׁמֶ֑ךָ him, sheh-MEH-ha וַיֹּ֖אמֶר What va-YOH-mer יַֽעֲקֹֽב׃ is YA-uh-KOVE -
וַיֹּ֗אמֶר he va-YOH-mer לֹ֤א said, loh יַֽעֲקֹב֙ Thy ya-uh-KOVE יֵֽאָמֵ֥ר name yay-ah-MARE עוֹד֙ shall ode שִׁמְךָ֔ be sheem-HA כִּ֖י called kee אִם no eem יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל more yees-ra-ALE כִּֽי Jacob, kee שָׂרִ֧יתָ but sa-REE-ta עִם eem אֱלֹהִ֛ים Israel: ay-loh-HEEM וְעִם for veh-EEM אֲנָשִׁ֖ים as uh-na-SHEEM וַתּוּכָֽל׃ a va-too-HAHL -
וַיִּשְׁאַ֣ל Jacob va-yeesh-AL יַֽעֲקֹ֗ב asked ya-uh-KOVE וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ him, va-YOH-MER הַגִּֽידָה and ha-ɡEE-da נָּ֣א said, na שְׁמֶ֔ךָ Tell sheh-MEH-ha וַיֹּ֕אמֶר me, va-YOH-mer לָ֥מָּה I LA-ma זֶּ֖ה pray zeh תִּשְׁאַ֣ל thee, teesh-AL לִשְׁמִ֑י thy leesh-MEE וַיְבָ֥רֶךְ name. vai-VA-rek אֹת֖וֹ And oh-TOH שָֽׁם׃ he shahm -
וַיִּקְרָ֧א Jacob va-yeek-RA יַֽעֲקֹ֛ב called ya-uh-KOVE שֵׁ֥ם the shame הַמָּק֖וֹם name ha-ma-KOME פְּנִיאֵ֑ל of peh-nee-ALE כִּֽי the kee רָאִ֤יתִי place ra-EE-tee אֱלֹהִים֙ Peniel: ay-loh-HEEM פָּנִ֣ים for pa-NEEM אֶל I el פָּנִ֔ים have pa-NEEM וַתִּנָּצֵ֖ל seen va-tee-na-TSALE נַפְשִֽׁי׃ God nahf-SHEE -
וַיִּֽזְרַֽח as va-YEE-zeh-RAHK ל֣וֹ he loh הַשֶּׁ֔מֶשׁ passed ha-SHEH-mesh כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֥ר over ka-uh-SHER עָבַ֖ר ah-VAHR אֶת Penuel et פְּנוּאֵ֑ל the peh-noo-ALE וְה֥וּא sun veh-HOO צֹלֵ֖עַ rose tsoh-LAY-ah עַל upon al יְרֵכֽוֹ׃ him, yeh-ray-HOH -
