ਲਾਬਾਨ ਨੇ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕੀ ਦੇਵਾਂ?” ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨੇ ਜਵਾਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਮੈਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਦੇਵੇਂ। ਮੈਂ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇਹੀ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਦੇਵੇਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇੰਨੀ ਗੱਲ ਕਰ: ਮੈਂ ਵਾਪਸ ਜਾਵਾਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਭੇਡਾਂ ਦੀ ਦੇਖ-ਭਾਲ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ।

ਲਾਬਾਨ ਨੇ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕੀ ਦੇਵਾਂ?” ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨੇ ਜਵਾਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਮੈਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਦੇਵੇਂ। ਮੈਂ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇਹੀ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਲ ਦੇਵੇਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਇੰਨੀ ਗੱਲ ਕਰ: ਮੈਂ ਵਾਪਸ ਜਾਵਾਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਭੇਡਾਂ ਦੀ ਦੇਖ-ਭਾਲ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ।
