Genesis 28:19
ਇਸ ਥਾਂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਲੂਜ਼ ਸੀ। ਪਰ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਬੈਤਏਲ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

ਯਾਕੂਬ ਬੈਤਏਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਬੈਤਏਲ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਚੱਲਾ ਜਾਹ। ਉੱਥੇ ਰਹਿ ਅਤੇ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਜਗਵੇਦੀ ਉਸਾਰ। ਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ ਕਰ, ਉਹ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਉਦੋਂ ਦਿਖਾਈ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾ ਏਸਾਓ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਭੱਜ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ ਲਈ ਉੱਥੇ ਜਗਵੇਦੀ ਉਸਾਰ।”

ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਦੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਬੈਤੇਲ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਬਜ਼ਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਦੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਬੈਤੇਲ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਲੜਨ ਲਈ ਗਏ। ਪਿੱਛਲੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੈਤੇਲ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਲੂਜ਼ ਸੀ। ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਦੇ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਵੱਲ ਸੀ। ਯੂਸੁਫ਼ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਦੇ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਬੈਤੇਲ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਅੰਦਰ ਕੁਝ ਜਾਸੂਸਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਿਆ। ਇਹ ਲੋਕ ਬੈਤੇਲ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਢੰਗ ਲੱਭਣ ਲੱਗੇ।

ਯਾਰਾਬੁਆਮ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਸੋਨੇ ਦਾ ਵੱਛਾ ਬੈਤਏਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਟਿਕਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਦੂਜਾ ਦਾਨ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਟਿਕਾਅ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

Hosea 12:4
ਯਾਕੂਬ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਦੂਤ ਨਾਲ ਲੜਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਜਿੱਤ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਰੋ ਕੇ ਇੱਕ ਉਪਕਾਰ ਲਈ ਮੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ। ਇਹ ਬੈਤਅਲ ਵਿਖੇ ਵਾਪਰਿਆ, ਅਤੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲ ਕੀਤੀ।
