Ecclesiastes 9:4
ਜਿਹੜਾ ਵੀ ਬੰਦਾ ਹਾਲੇ ਜਿਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਲਈ ਉਮੀਦ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਜਿਉਂਦਾ ਕੁਤ੍ਤਾ ਮੁਰਦਾ ਸ਼ੇਰ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਹੈ।

Isaiah 38:18
ਮੁਰਦਾ ਲੋਕ ਤੇਰੀ ਉਸਤਤ ਦੇ ਗੀਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਗਾਉਂਦੇ। ਸ਼ਿਓਲ ਵਿੱਚਲੇ ਲੋਕ ਤੇਰੀ ਉਸਤਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦੇ। ਮੁਰਦੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਦੀ ਆਸ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਖਦੇ। ਉਹ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੀ ਮੋਰੀ ਅੰਦਰ ਚੱਲੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਨੇ ਤੇ ਉਹ ਮੁੜ ਕਦੇ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੋਲਦੇ।

ਪਰ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਮੈਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਚੀਜ਼ ਬਾਰੇ ਸੋਚਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਉਮੀਦ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਸੋਚਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਇਹ ਹੈ:

ਇਸਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਤੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਵਿੱਚਕਾਰ ਇੱਕ ਗਹਿਰੀ ਖੱਡ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਲਈ ਅਗਰ ਕੋਈ ਵੀ, ਜੋ ਤੇਰੀ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਨੀ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਉਧਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸੱਕਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਕੋਈ ਉਧਰੋਂ ਇਧਰ ਆ ਸੱਕਦਾ ਹੈ।’
