Deuteronomy 25:7
ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਬੰਦਾ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾ ਦੀ ਵਿਧਵਾ ਨਾਲ ਸ਼ਾਦੀ ਨਾ ਕਰਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੇ ਤਾਂ ਭਰਾ ਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਕਸਬੇ ਦੀ ਸਭਾ ਵਾਲੀ ਥਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਕੋਲ ਜਾਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਸ ਦੇ ਭਰਾ ਦੀ ਪਤਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਆਖਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ‘ਮੇਰੇ ਪਤੀ ਦਾ ਭਰਾ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਜਿਉਂਦਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਖਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ। ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਭਰਾ ਵਾਲੇ ਫ਼ਰਜ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਨਿਭਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ।’

| say, and | וְאָֽמְרָה֙ | wĕʾāmĕrāh | veh-ah-meh-RA |
| My husband's brother | מֵאֵ֨ן | mēʾēn | may-ANE |
| refuseth | יְבָמִ֜י | yĕbāmî | yeh-va-MEE |
| up raise to | לְהָקִ֨ים | lĕhāqîm | leh-ha-KEEM |
| unto his brother | לְאָחִ֥יו | lĕʾāḥîw | leh-ah-HEEOO |
