Judges 1:17
ਕੁਝ ਕਨਾਨੀ ਲੋਕ ਸਫ਼ਾਥ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਸਨ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਿਮਓਨ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਦੇ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਨਾਨੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਹਮਲਾ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਹਾਰਮਾਹ ਰੱਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਆਦਮੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਿਮਓਨ ਦੇ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ-ਸਮੂਹ ਦੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਪਾਸੋਂ ਮਦਦ ਮੰਗੀ। ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਭਰਾਵੋ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੁਝ ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇਣ ਦਾ ਇਕਰਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਸੀ ਜੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਾਡੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਲਈ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਆਕੇ ਲੜਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਦਦ ਕਰੋਂਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਲਈ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਕੇ ਲੜਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਾਂਗੇ।” ਤਾਂ ਸ਼ਿਮਓਨ ਦੇ ਬੰਦੇ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਲੜਾਈ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਦਦ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਮੰਨ ਗਏ।
