ਸੱਤਵੇਂ ਸਾਲ ਪਰਧਾਨ ਜਾਜਕ ਯੋਹਯਾਦਾ ਨੇ ਕਰੇਬੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਪਹਿਰੇਦਾਰਾਂ ਤੇ ਸਰਦਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੱਦਾ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਿਲਣ ਲਈ ਸਦਿਅ। ਫ਼ੇਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਇਕਰਾਰਨਾਮਾ ਕੀਤਾ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਮੰਦਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੌਂਹ ਖੁਆਈ ਫੇਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਰਾਜੇ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਯੋਆਸ ਦਿਖਾਇਆ।

ਤਾਂ ਕਪਤਾਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਯਹੋਯਾਦਾ ਜਾਜਕ ਨੇ ਆਗਿਆ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਹਰ ਕਪਤਾਨ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਆਦਮੀ ਲਏ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਜੱਥੇ ਨੇ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਨੀਵਾਰ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਰੱਖਵਾਲੀ ਕਰਨੀ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਜੱਥਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਹਫ਼ਤੇ ਦੇ ਬਾਕੀ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਵਾਲੀ ਕਰਨੀ ਸੀ। ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਆਦਮੀ ਯਹੋਯਾਦਾ ਜਾਜਕ ਕੋਲ ਆਏ।

ਤਦ ਅਮੀਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਦਾਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਹੇ ਨਹਮਯਾਹ, ਅਸੀਂ ਉਹ ਸਭ ਕੁਝ ਵਾਪਸ ਕਰ ਦੇਵਾਂਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਹੋਰ ਮੰਗ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਂਗਾਂਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਵੇਂ ਹੀ ਕਰਾਂਗੇ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਤੂੰ ਕਹੇਁਗਾ।” ਫੇਰ ਮੈਂ ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ। ਮੈਂ ਸੱਜਣਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਰਦਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਸੌਂਹ ਚੁਕਾਈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਇਕਰਾਰਾਂ ਤੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਉਤਰਣਗੇ।

ਤਦ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਥਾਂ ਤੇ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਇਕਰਾਰਨਾਮਾ ਬੰਨ੍ਹਿਆ। ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਨੇਮ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਕਹੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਤੁਰਾਂਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਹੁਕਮ ਉਸਦੀਆਂ ਸਿੱਖਿਆਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੀਆਂ ਬਿਧੀਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਤਨ-ਮਨ ਨਾਲ ਪਾਲਨਾ ਕਰਾਂਗੇ। ਉਸ ਬਿਵਸਥਾ ਦੀ ਪੋਥੀ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਤਹਿ ਦਿਲੋਂ ਮੰਨ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਉੱਪਰ ਪੂਰਨੇ ਪਾਵਾਂਗੇ।

ਮੈਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ, ਦੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀ ਸੌਂਹ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਕਿ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਕੋਈ ਕੌਮ ਜਾਂ ਰਾਜ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਲੱਭਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ। ਜਦ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਰਾਜ ਜਾਂ ਕੌਮ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਉੱਥੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈਂ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੌਂਹ ਚੁਕਾਈ ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਓੱਥੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ।

ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਸ ਦਿਨ ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਨੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਨੇਮ ਕੀਤਾ। ਯਹੋਸ਼ੁਆ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਨੇਮ ਸ਼ਕਮ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਕਸਬੇ ਵਿਖੇ ਕੀਤਾ। ਇਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਈ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ ਬਣ ਗਿਆ।
Genesis 50:25
