ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਕਿ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਦਰਸਾਵੇ ਕਿ ਲੋਕ ਮੇਰੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਸਨ, ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਮਾਸੂਮ ਲੇਲੇ ਵਰਗਾ ਸਾਂ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਜ਼ਿਬਾਹ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਉਡੀਕ ਕਰ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮੈਂ ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ ਸਮਝਦਾ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਸਨ। ਉਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਬਾਰੇ ਇਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਨ: “ਆਓ ਅਸੀਂ ਰੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਫ਼ਲ ਨੂੰ ਬਰਬਾਦ ਕਰ ਦੇਈਏ। ਆਓ ਅਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰ ਦੇਈਏ! ਫ਼ੇਰ ਲੋਕੀ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਭੁੱਲ ਜਾਣਗੇ।”

ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਦੀ ਚੌਥੀ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ ਫ਼ੇਰ ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਮਣਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਆਓ ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਦੇ ਖਿਲਾਫ਼ ਸਾਜ਼ਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਘੜੀੇ। ਯਕੀਨਨ ਜਾਜਕ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਬਿਵਸਬਾ ਗੁੰਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ। ਅਤੇ ਸਿਆਣੇ ਬੰਦਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਨਸੀਹਤ ਹਾਲੇ ਵੀ ਸਾਡੇ ਅੰਗ-ਸੰਗ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ। ਸਾਡੇ ਕੋਲ ਹਾਲੇ ਵੀ ਨਬੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਹੋਣਗੇ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਆਓ ਅਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਬਾਰੇ ਝੂਠ ਆਖੀਏ। ਇਹ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ। ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਉਹ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਸੀਂ ਉਸ ਵੱਲ ਕੋਈ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਵਾਂਗੇ।”

ਫ਼ੇਰ ਉਹ ਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਸੁਣੀਆਂ ਜਿਹੜੀਆਂ ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਸੀ, ਰਾਜੇ ਸਿਦਕੀਯਾਹ ਕੋਲ ਗਏ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਅਵੱਸ਼ ਹੀ ਮੌਤ ਦੀ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਮਿਲਣੀ ਚਾਹੀਦੀ ਹੈ। ਉਹ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਫ਼ੌਜੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਹੌਸਲਾ ਢਾਹ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਹਾਲੇ ਤੱਕ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਨ। ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਹਰ ਬੰਦੇ ਦਾ, ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਹੌਸਲਾ ਢਾਹ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ। ਯਿਰਮਿਯਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਕਿ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਚੰਗਾ ਵਾਪਰੇ। ਉਹ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਰਬਾਦ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।”
