ਤੂੰ ਹਾਲੇ ਤੱਕ ਮਿਸਰ ਵਿੱਚਲੀ ਸ਼ੀਹੋਰ ਨਦੀ ਤੋਂ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਅਕਰੋਨ ਦੀ ਸਰਹੱਦ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਤਰ ਵੱਲ ਹੋਰ ਅਗਲੇਰੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਕੀਤਾ। ਇਹ ਧਰਤੀ ਹਾਲੇ ਵੀ ਕਨਾਨੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਹੈ। ਤੈਨੂੰ ਹਾਲੇ ਰਾਜਾ, ਅਸ਼ਦੋਦ, ਅਸ਼ਕਲੋਨ, ਗਿੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਅਕਰੋਨ ਦੇ ਪੰਜਾ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਾਉਣਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ। ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਅੱਵੀ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰਾਵੇ।

ਅਸ਼ਦੋਦ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਆਗੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਠਿਆ ਬੁਲਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਨਾਲ ਕੀ ਕਰਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ?” ਸ਼ਾਸਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਜਵਾਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਨੂੰ ਗਥ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੈ ਜਾਉ।” ਤਾਂ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਨੂੰ ਚੁੱਕ ਲਿਆ।

ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਅਸੀਂ ਕਿਹੋ ਜਿਹੇ ਤੋਹਫ਼ੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਜੀਏ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਸਾਡੇ ਪਾਪ ਬਖਸ਼ ਦੇਵੇ?” ਜਾਜਕਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਜਾਦੂਗਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਇੱਥੇ ਪੰਜ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਅਲੱਗ-ਅਲੱਗ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਆਗੂ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਆਗੁਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੀਆਂ ਸਭਨਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਇੱਕੋ ਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਮੁਸੀਬਤਾਂ ਹਨ।

ਤਦ ਆਕੀਸ਼ ਨੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾਕੇ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਮੈਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੀ ਸੌਂਹ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਕਿ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਵਫ਼ਾਦਾਰ ਹੈਂ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਬਹੁਤ ਖੁਸ਼ੀ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ ਜੇਕਰ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੈਨਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰੇਂਗਾ। ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਭੈੜ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਜਦੋਂ ਤੋਂ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ। ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀ ਸ਼ਾਸਕ ਵੀ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਚੰਗਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਮਝਦੇ ਹਨ।
