ਤਦ ਦਾਊਦ ਉੱਠ ਕੇ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਦੇ ਡੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਥਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਲੰਮਾ ਪਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਨੇਰ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਅਬਨੇਰ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਜੋ ਉਸਦਾ ਸੇਨਾਪਤੀ ਸੀ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਸੁੱਤੇ ਪਏ ਸਨ। ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਡੇਰੇ ਦੇ ਬਿਲਕੁਲ ਵਿੱਚਕਾਰ ਸੁੱਤਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਚਾਰੋਂ ਪਾਸੇ ਸਿਪਾਹੀ ਸਨ।
