ਆਦਮੀ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਜਾਕੇ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕਿਹਾ ਪਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਦੁਬਾਰਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੂੰ ਆਪ ਵੇਖਕੇ ਆਉਣ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਹਰ ਹਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਲੈ ਆਓ। ਜੇਕਰ ਉਹ ਬਿਮਾਰ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਜੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਏ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਲੈ ਆਓ, ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਕੇ ਹੀ ਛੱਡਾਂਗਾ।”

ਆਦਮੀ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਜਾਕੇ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸਭ ਕਿਹਾ ਪਰ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਦੁਬਾਰਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੂੰ ਆਪ ਵੇਖਕੇ ਆਉਣ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਹਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਆਖਿਆ, “ਤੁਸੀਂ ਹਰ ਹਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਲੈ ਆਓ। ਜੇਕਰ ਉਹ ਬਿਮਾਰ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਜੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਏ ਨੂੰ ਹੀ ਲੈ ਆਓ, ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਕੇ ਹੀ ਛੱਡਾਂਗਾ।”
