ଦୁର୍ଭିକ୍ଷ ବର୍ତ୍ତମାନ ଦୁଇବର୍ଷ ଧରି ଚାଲିଛି। ଆହୁରି ଏହିପରି ପାଞ୍ଚବର୍ଷ ହବେ। ଶସ୍ଯ କଅଁଳିବ ନାହିଁ।

ଜଣେ ରାଜା ସୈନିକ ହବୋପାଇଁ ତକ୍ସ୍ଟମ୍ଭ ପକ୍ସ୍ଟଅମାନଙ୍କୁ ଆଦେଶ ଦବେ। ସେ କେତକଙ୍କେକ୍ସ୍ଟ 1,000 ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ଉପରେ ଓ ଅନ୍ୟମାନଙ୍କୁ ପଗ୍ଭଶ ଜଣ ଲୋକ ମଧିଅରେ ଅଧିକାରୀ ରୂପେ ନିୟକ୍ସ୍ଟକ୍ତି କରିବ।

ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ଚାଷ କରୁଥିବା ବଳଦ ଓ ଗର୍ଦ୍ଦଭମାନେ ଚାଲୁଣି ଓ କୁଲା ରେ ପରିଷ୍କୃତ ସୁମିଶ୍ରିତ ଖାଦ୍ୟ ଖାଇବେ।

ଏବଂ ଏହାପରେ ସାତବର୍ଷର ଦୁର୍ଭିକ୍ଷ ଆରମ୍ଭ ହେଲା। ଯେଉଁପରି ଭାବେ ଯୋଷଫେ ଆଗରୁ କହିଥିଲେ। ଫସଲ ଉତ୍ପନ୍ନ ହେଲା ନାହିଁ। କୌଣସି ସ୍ଥାନ ମିଶର ରେ ଅବା ଅନ୍ୟ କୌଣସି ଦେଶ ରେ। କିନ୍ତୁ ମିଶର ରେ ଖାଦ୍ୟ ଥିଲା।

ସବୁଆଡ଼େ ଦୁର୍ଭିକ୍ଷ ପଡ଼ିଥିଲା। ତେଣୁ ଯୋଷଫେ ସବୁ ସ୍ଥାନ ରେ ଗୋଲା ଫିଟାଇ ମିସ୍ରୀଯମାନଙ୍କୁ ଶସ୍ଯ ବିକିବାକୁ ଲାଗିଲେ। ତଥାପି ମିଶର ରେ ଦୁର୍ଭିକ୍ଷ ପ୍ରବଳ ହେଲା।

କିନ୍ତୁ ତା'ପର ବର୍ଷ, ସମାନଙ୍କେ ଦଇେ ଖାଦ୍ୟ ସଂଗ୍ରହ କରିବା ପାଇଁ, ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ନିକଟରେ ଆଉ ପଶୁ ନଥିଲା। ତେଣୁ ଲୋକମାନେ ଯୋଷଫଙ୍କେ ନିକଟକୁ ୟାଇ କହିଲେ, ତୁମ୍ଭେ ଜାଣ ଯେ ଆମ୍ଭ ମିକଟ ରେ ଆଉ ରୂପା ନାହିଁ। ଏବଂ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ସମସ୍ତ ପଶୁ ସମ୍ପଦ ମଧ୍ଯ ମହାଶୟଙ୍କର ହାଇେଅଛି। ଏବେ ମହାଶୟଙ୍କ ସାକ୍ଷାତ ରେ ଆମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କର ଦହେ ଓ ଭୂମି ବିନା ଆଉ କିଛି ଆମ୍ଭ ନିକଟରେ ନାହିଁ।

ଏହାପରେ ଯୋଷଫେ ପ୍ରଜାମାନଙ୍କୁ କହିଲେ, ଆଜି ପର୍ୟ୍ଯନ୍ତ ମୁଁ ଫାରୋଙ୍କ ନିମନ୍ତେ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ଓ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କ ଭୂମି ସବୁ କିଣିଲୁ। ଏବେ ଏହି ବିହନ ନଇେ ଭୂମିରେ ବୁଣ।
