ମାଥିଉଲିଖିତ ସୁସମାଚାର 23:22
ଏବଂ ଯେଉଁ ଲୋକ ସ୍ବର୍ଗ ନାମ ରେ ଶପଥ ନଇେଥାଏ, ସେ ପରମେଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ସିଂହାସନ ସହିତ ସହେି ସିଂହାସନ ଉପରେ ୟିଏ ବିରାଜମାନ, ତାହାଙ୍କ ନାମ ରେ ମଧ୍ଯ ଶପଥ ନଇେଥାଏ।

அந்த நாளிலே யோசுவா மக்கெதாவைப் பிடித்து, அதைப் பட்டயத்தினால் அழித்து, அதின் ராஜாவையும் அதிலுள்ள மனிதர்களையும் எல்லா உயிரினங்களையும், ஒருவரையும் மீதியாக வைக்காமல், அழித்து, எரிகோவின் ராஜாவுக்குச் செய்ததுபோல, மக்கெதாவின் ராஜாவுக்கும் செய்தான்.

அன்று யோசுவா மக்கெதா என்னும் நகரத்தை வென்றான். அந்நகரின் அரசனையும் ஜனங்களையும் கொன்றான். யாரும் உயிரோடு விடப்படவில்லை. எரிகோவின் அரசனுக்குச் செய்தபடியே மக்கெதாவின் அரசனுக்கும் செய்தான்.
