କିନ୍ତୁ ନାଦବ୍, ଅବୀହୂ ସମାନଙ୍କେ ପିତାଙ୍କ ମୃତ୍ଯୁ ପୂର୍ବରୁ ମରଣ ଲଭିଥିଲେ। ଆଉ ନାଦବ୍ ଓ ଅବୀହୂଙ୍କର କୌଣସି ପୁତ୍ର ସନ୍ତାନ ନ ଥିଲେ। ତେଣୁ ଇଲିଯାସର ଓ ଈଥାମର ଯାଜକରୂପେ ସବୋକାର୍ୟ୍ଯ କଲେ।
