ତା'ପରେ ଯୀଶୁ ସମାନଙ୍କେଠାରୁ ପ୍ରାୟ ପଚାଶ ମିଟର ଦୂରକୁ ଗଲେ। ସେ ଆଣ୍ଠୁ ମାଡି ବସି ପଡି ପାର୍ଥନା କଲେ,

ଫାରୂଶୀଜଣକ କରଆଦାୟକାରୀଙ୍କଠାରୁ ଦୂର ରେ ଅଲଗା ଠିଆ ହାଇେଥିଲେ। ଫାରୂଶୀ ଜଣକ ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନା କଲାବାଳେ କହିଲେ, ' ହେ ପରମେଶ୍ବର, ମୁଁ ଅନ୍ୟ ଲୋକଙ୍କ ଭଳି ଖରାପ ହାଇନେଥିବାରୁ ତୁମ୍ଭକୁ କୃତଜ୍ଞତା ଜଣାଉଛି। ମୁଁ ଚୋରି, ଠକାମି, ବ୍ଯଭିଚାର, ପାପ କରୁଥିବା ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କ ଭଳି ନୁହେଁ।ମୁଁ ଏହି କରଆଦାୟକାରୀ ଅପେକ୍ଷା ଭଲ ହାଇେଥିବାରୁ ତୁମ୍ଭ ପାଖ ରେ କୃତଜ୍ଞତା ଜଣାଉଛି।
