ଯୋହନ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ତାହାଙ୍କ ବିଷୟ ରେ କହିଲେ। ସେ କହିଲେ, ମୁଁ ଯାହାଙ୍କ ବିଷୟ ରେ କହୁଥିଲି, ସେ ଏହି। ମୁଁ କହିଲି, 'ମାେ ପରେ ୟିଏ ଆସୁଛନ୍ତି, ସେ ମାେ ଠାରୁ ବହୁତ ଶ୍ ରେଷ୍ଠ। ସେ ମାେ ପୂର୍ବରୁ ବାସ କରୁଥିଲେ।'

யூதர்கள் அவனுக்கு மறுமொழியாக: எங்களுக்கு ஒரு நியாயப்பிரமாணம் உண்டு, இவன் தன்னை தேவனுடைய குமாரன் என்று சொன்னபடியால், அந்த நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தின்படியே இவன் மரிக்க வேண்டும் என்றார்கள்.
