ସେ ସମୟରେ ୟିରୂଶାଲମ,ସମଗ୍ର ୟିହୂଦା ରାଜ୍ଯ ଓ ୟର୍ଦ୍ଦନ ନଦୀର ଦୁଇପାଖ ଅଞ୍ଚଳ ରେ ଥିବା ଲୋକେ ଯୋହନଙ୍କ ପାଖକୁ ଉପଦେଶ ଶୁଣିବାକୁ ଆସିଲେ।

ଯୋହନଙ୍କ ନିକଟକୁ ବାପ୍ତିଜିତ ହବୋ ପାଇଁ ଲୋକମାନେ ଆସିଲେ। ଯୋହନ ସମାନଙ୍କେୁ କହିଲେ, ତୁମ୍ଭମାନେେ ବିଷଧର ସାପ ଭଳି। ପରମେଶ୍ବରଙ୍କ ଆସୁଥିବା ମହା କୋରଧରୁ ଖସି ପଳାଇବା ପାଇଁ କିଏ ତୁମ୍ଭମାନଙ୍କୁ ଚତାଇେ ଦଲୋ?

ଯୋହନ ମଧ୍ଯ ଏ ନୋନ ଗ୍ରାମ ରେ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ବାପ୍ତିଜିତ ଦେଉଥିଲେ। ଏ ନୋନ ଶାଲମ ନଗର ନିକଟବର୍ତ୍ତୀ। ସଠାେରେ ପ୍ରଚୁର ଜଳ ଥିବାରୁ ଯୋହନ ସଠାେରେ ବାପ୍ତିସ୍ମ ଦେଉଥିଲେ। ଲୋକମାନେ ସଠାେକୁ ବାପ୍ତିଜିତ ହବୋପାଇଁ ଯାଉଥିଲେ।
