यरीहोलाई परास्त गरे पछि यहोशूले केही मानिसहरूलाई ऐ शहरमा पठाए। ऐ शहर बेतेलको पूर्वतर्फ बेत-आवनको नजिकमा थियो। यहोशूले तिनीहरूलाई भने, “ऐ शहरमा जाऊ अनि त्यो क्षेत्रमा भएका कमजोरीहरूको पत्तालगाऊ।” यसकारण ती मानिसहरू त्यस स्थानमा जासूस गर्न गए।
