दाऊदले भने, “त्यो व्यक्ति जसले यबूसी मानिसहरू माथि आक्रमण गर्छ, मेरा सम्पूर्ण सेनाको सेनापति हुनेछ।” यसर्थ योआबले आक्रमणको अगुवाई गरे। योआब सरूयाहका छोरा थिए। योआब सेनाका सेनापति बने।
