എന്നാൽ യോരാംരാജാവിന്റെ മകളും അഹസ്യാവിന്റെ സഹോദരിയുമായ യെഹോശേബ കൊല്ലപ്പെടുന്ന രാജാകുമാരന്മാരുടെ ഇടയിൽ നിന്നു അഹസ്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ യോവാശിനെ മോഷ്ടിച്ചെടുത്തു അവനെയും അവന്റെ ധാത്രിയെയും അഥല്യാ കണാതെ ഒരു ശയനഗൃഹത്തിൽ കൊണ്ടുപോയി ഒളിപ്പിച്ചു; അതുകൊണ്ടു അവനെ കൊല്ലുവാൻ ഇടയായില്ല.

അവർ പോയശേഷം കർത്താവിന്റെ ദൂതൻ യോസേഫിന്നു സ്വപ്നത്തിൽ പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി: നീ എഴുന്നേറ്റു ശിശുവിനെയും അമ്മയെയും കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു മിസ്രയീമിലേക്കു ഓടിപ്പോയി, ഞാൻ നിന്നോടു പറയുംവരെ അവിടെ പാർക്കുക. ഹെരോദാവു ശിശുവിനെ നശിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവനെ അന്വേഷിപ്പാൻ ഭാവിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
