അയ്യോ, ജനപൂർണ്ണയായിരുന്ന നഗരം ഏകാന്തയായിരിക്കുന്നതെങ്ങനെ? ജാതികളിൽ മഹതിയായിരുന്നവൾ വിധവയെപ്പോലെ ആയതെങ്ങനെ? സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളുടെ നായകിയായിരുന്നവൾ ഊഴിയവേലക്കാരത്തിയായതെങ്ങനെ?

| among the nations, | בַגּוֹיִ֗ם | baggôyim | va-ɡoh-YEEM |
| princess and | שָׂרָ֙תִי֙ | śārātiy | sa-RA-TEE |
| among the provinces, | בַּמְּדִינ֔וֹת | bammĕdînôt | ba-meh-dee-NOTE |
| how is she become | הָיְתָ֖ה | hāytâ | hai-TA |
