ശൌൽ കൂടെയുള്ള ജനത്തോടു: എണ്ണിനോക്കി നമ്മിൽനിന്നു പോയവർ ആരെന്നറിവിൻ എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു. അവർ എണ്ണിനോക്കിയപ്പോൾ യോനാഥാനും അവന്റെ ആയുധവാഹകനും ഇല്ലായിരുന്നു.
