എന്നാൽ ദാവീദ് യെഹൂദയിലെ ബേത്ത്ളേഹെമിൽ യിശ്ശായി എന്നു പേരുള്ള ഒരു എഫ്രാത്യന്റെ മകൻ ആയിരുന്നു; യിശ്ശായിക്കു എട്ടു മക്കൾ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവൻ ശൌലിന്റെ കാലത്തു വയസ്സുചെന്നു വൃദ്ധനായിരുന്നു.
