ಚೇಲ, ಎಲೆಫ್, ಯೆಬೂಸಿಯರು ಇದ್ದಂಥ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮು ಗಿಬೆಯತ್, ಕಿರ್ಯತ್ ಎಂಬ ಹದಿನಾಲ್ಕು ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳು ಅವುಗಳ ಗ್ರಾಮಗಳು. ಇವೇ ಬೆನ್ಯಾವಿಾನನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಅವರ ಕುಟುಂಬಗಳ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಇರುವ ಬಾಧ್ಯತೆಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದವು.

ಆ ದಿವಸದಲ್ಲಿ ದಾವೀದನುಕಂದಕವನ್ನು ದಾಟಿ ಯೆಬೂಸಿಯರನ್ನು ಅಂದರೆ ದಾವೀದನ ಪ್ರಾಣ ದ್ವೇಷಿಗಳಾದ ಕುಂಟರನ್ನೂ ಕುರು ಡರನ್ನೂ ಹೊಡೆಯುವವನು (ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥನೂ ಅಧಿ ಪತಿಯೂ ಆಗಿರುವನು) ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರು--ಕುರುಡರೂ ಕುಂಟರೂ ಮನೆಯೊಳಗೆ ಬರಕೂಡದು ಅಂದರು.

ಸಮು ವೇಲನು ಎದ್ದು ಗಿಲ್ಗಾಲಿನಿಂದ ಬೆನ್ಯಾವಿಾನ್ ದೇಶದ ಗಿಬೆಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದನು. ಸೌಲನು ತನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದ ಜನರನ್ನು ಲೆಕ್ಕಮಾಡಿದಾಗ ಅವರು ಸುಮಾರು ಆರು ನೂರು ಜನರಿದ್ದರು.
