Deuteronomy 20:14
ಆದರೆ ಹೆಂಗಸರನ್ನೂ ಚಿಕ್ಕವ ರನ್ನೂ ಪಶುಗಳನ್ನೂ ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ಅದರ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕೊಳ್ಳೆಯನ್ನೂ ನಿನಗಾಗಿ ಸುಲುಕೊಳ್ಳ ಬೇಕು; ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನು ನಿನಗೆ ಕೊಡುವಂಥ ನಿನ್ನ ಶತ್ರುಗಳ ಕೊಳ್ಳೆಯನ್ನು ತಿಂದುಬಿಡಬೇಕು.

ಯೆಹೋಷಾಫಾಟನೂ ಅವನ ಜನರೂ ಅವರ ವಸ್ತುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಳ್ಳೆಮಾಡಲು ಬಂದಾಗ ಅವರು ಹೆಣ ಗಳ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ದ್ರವ್ಯವನ್ನೂ ಪ್ರಿಯವಾದ ಆಭರಣ ಗಳನ್ನೂ ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ಕಂಡುಕೊಂಡು ತಾವು ಹೊರ ಲಾರದಷ್ಟು ಸುಲುಕೊಂಡರು. ಕೊಳ್ಳೆಯು ಅಷ್ಟು ಅಧಿಕವಾದದರಿಂದ ಅದನ್ನು ಮೂರು ದಿವಸಗಳ ವರೆಗೂ ಸುಲುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದರು.

ಆಗ ಆಸನೂ ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದ ಜನರೂ ಅವರನ್ನು ಗೆರಾರಿನ ವರೆಗೂ ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟಿದರು. ಕೂಷಿಯರು ತಮಗೆ ತ್ರಾಣವಿಲ್ಲದ ಹಾಗೆ ಸೋತುಹೋದರು. ಅವರು ಕರ್ತನ ಮುಂದೆಯೂ ಆತನ ಸೈನ್ಯದ ಮುಂದೆಯೂ ನಾಶ ವಾದರು. ಯೆಹೂದದವರು ಬಹು ಕೊಳ್ಳೆಯನ್ನು ಒಯ್ದರು.

ಆ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳ ಕೊಳ್ಳೆಯನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಪಶು ಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ತಮಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಸುಲುಕೊಂಡರು; ಆದರೆ ಮನುಷ್ಯರೆಲ್ಲರನ್ನು ಕತ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ನಾಶಮಾಡುವ ವರೆಗೂ ಹೊಡೆದುಬಿಟ್ಟರು. ಶ್ವಾಸವುಳ್ಳ ಒಂದನ್ನೂ ಅವರು ಉಳಿಯಗೊಡಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ.

ಪುರುಷ ಸಂಗಮ ಮಾಡದ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರು ಮೂವತ್ತೆ ರಡು ಸಾವಿರ ಮಂದಿ.
