ಬಾಲಕನಾದ ಸಮುವೇಲನು ಏಲಿಯ ಮುಂದೆ ಕರ್ತನಿಗೆ ಸೇವೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡಿ ದ್ದನು. ಆ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕರ್ತನ ವಾಕ್ಯವು ವಿರಳವಾಗಿತ್ತು; ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಕಟವಾದ ದೇವದರ್ಶನವಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
